Role Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated and accomplished Process Engineer to lead advanced process design, optimization, and energy management initiatives across onshore and offshore oil and gas facilities, including production, refining, petrochemical, and utility systems. This role focuses on driving innovation, energy efficiency, and sustainability through advanced process modelling, simulation, and optimization techniques.

The ideal candidate will play a key role in identifying and implementing impactful process improvements, mentoring junior engineers, and managing cross-functional projects, all while ensuring compliance with industry standards and client expectations. This is a pivotal role in enhancing operational efficiency and sustainability across diverse industrial systems.

Key Responsibilities

1. Perform site visits to onshore and offshore facilities to gather design and operational data, engage with stakeholders, conduct energy audits, and identify opportunities for process improvements.
2. Evaluate energy usage patterns, identify inefficiencies, and develop actionable process optimization strategies to enhance energy performance and reduce costs.
3. Lead advanced process design and optimization initiatives focusing on production units, refining processes, petrochemical plants, utility systems, and other energy-intensive systems.
4. Utilize advanced simulation tools like Aspen HYSYS, Aspen Energy Analyser, and PIPENET to model processes, optimize designs, and perform equipment sizing.
5. Analyse and refine key process parameters to maximize throughput, minimize energy consumption, and ensure compliance with quality standards.
6. Leverage expertise in process control, heat and mass balance calculations, and energy integration techniques to enhance operational efficiency.
7. Develop, design, and optimize PFDs, P&IDs, and process datasheets for operational and engineering improvements.
8. Utilize Aspen Economic Analyser, Aspen EDR, and Aspen Cost Estimator for economic evaluations and equipment design.
9. Conduct feasibility studies for plant upgrades and process simulations to evaluate and recommend process improvements and innovative technologies.
10. Drive energy optimization strategies across diverse industrial systems, quantifying improvements in terms of efficiency, cost reduction, and environmental impact.
11. Prepare detailed technical reports, performance analyses, and presentations for stakeholders, providing actionable insights and data-driven recommendations.
12. Lead cross-functional project teams to deliver process improvement solutions to clients on time, ensuring alignment with client objectives and project requirements.
13. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop integrated solutions that align with operational, energy, and sustainability objectives.
14. Develop interactive dashboards and automate workflows using Python or Excel VBA/Power BI to analyse large datasets and facilitate real-time decision-making.
15. Automate data processing and visualization workflows to improve efficiency and support real-time operational decisions.
16. Plan, manage, and oversee site activities at both onshore and offshore locations, ensuring efficient scheduling, resource allocation, and adherence to safety protocols.
17. Stay abreast of advancements in process engineering and energy management technologies, integrating best practices and emerging solutions into operations.
18. Ensure compliance with industry regulations, safety protocols, and quality and industry standards while proactively identifying opportunities to exceed benchmarks.
19. Mentor and guide junior engineers, fostering a culture of innovation, technical excellence, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

1. Education:
2. Bachelor’s / Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering from a recognized Institution.
3. Relevant Certifications in process engineering or energy efficiency (CEM, Six Sigma Green/Black Belt) are preferred.

1. Experience:
2. Minimum 10 years of extensive experience in process design, optimization, troubleshooting, and developing innovative solutions for energy efficiency improvements in the oil and gas industry.
3. At least 5 years of hands-on experience in process simulation and dynamic modelling for advanced engineering studies.
4. Deep knowledge of process design, control systems, heat and mass balance calculations, equipment sizing, and energy integration techniques.
5. Strong command of advanced process simulation tools, including Aspen HYSYS, Aspen Energy Analyser, Aspen EDR, and PIPENET.
6. Proficiency in using Aspen Capital Cost Estimator (ACCE) and Aspen Process Economic Analyser (APEA) for accurate capital cost assessments and economic evaluations.
7. Proven record of accomplishment of delivering energy optimization projects that have achieved measurable cost savings and efficiency gains.
8. Expertise in preparing high-quality technical reports and engineering documentation to communicate findings and recommendations effectively.

4. Strong programming skills using Python (Numpy/SciPy, Pandas and Matplotlib, Jupyter etc.) and/or Excel VBA/PowerBI is highly preferable.
