Job Description:
Food Preparation & Cooking:
Assist the Head Chef in preparing and cooking a variety of menu items, ensuring high standards of taste, presentation, and portion control.
Supervise the preparation and cooking of dishes by kitchen staff, ensuring consistency and quality.
Execute recipes and cooking techniques to meet established culinary standards and customer expectations.
Staff Supervision & Training:
Supervise and mentor kitchen staff, including line cooks and prep cooks, ensuring proper food handling and preparation techniques.
Provide training to new staff members on kitchen procedures, food safety practices, and equipment usage.
Schedule and delegate tasks to kitchen staff to ensure efficient kitchen operations during shifts.
Collaborate with the Head Chef in developing and updating menus, including creating new recipes and specials based on seasonal ingredients and customer preferences.
Assist in selecting and sourcing high-quality ingredients and ensuring the availability of necessary items for food preparation.
Conduct taste tests and quality checks to maintain high culinary standards.
Ensure the kitchen operates smoothly and efficiently, including managing food preparation, cooking, and plating processes.
Monitor inventory levels of ingredients and kitchen supplies, coordinating with the Head Chef for timely reordering and stock management.
Maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment, following all health and safety regulations, including regular cleaning and sanitation.
Health & Safety Compliance:
Adhere to food safety and hygiene standards, including proper storage, handling, and preparation of food items.
Ensure all kitchen equipment and utensils are maintained in good condition and used safely.
Implement and enforce proper cleaning and sanitation procedures to prevent cross-contamination and foodborne illnesses.
Customer Interaction:
Occasionally interact with customers to address any special dietary requests or feedback related to food quality.
