A Personal Chef’s main responsibility is to prepare dishes that meet clients’ tastes, serving needs, and nutritional requirements. To fulfill this, they may perform the following job duties:
Consulting with clients to explore their needs, food preferences, allergies, and dietary restrictions
Developing recipes for appetizers, salads, soups, entrées, sides, and desserts
Creating menus with meal options clients can select from
Sourcing high-quality ingredients
Preparing breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks
Packaging and storing foods for clients to reheat
Cleaning and sanitizing cookware, cooking utensils, and workstations
Adhering to food safety and hygiene rules and regulations

Planning meals based on client needs
Shopping for requested or required food and ingredients to prepare meals
Cleaning up the kitchen or area where the meal was prepared after the meals are made
Packaging meals for future use
Labeling food and ingredients in an organized way
Storing prepared items in the client or organization's freezer or refrigerator
Managing a team of other chefs or cooks or overseeing catering
Overseeing the scheduling of any kitchen staff that works alongside the personal chef
