The Principal Proposals Specialist is responsible for interpreting internal or external business issues and recommending best practices. They will be tasked with solving complex proposals-related problems and will work independently with minimal guidance. The Principal Proposals Specialist may be responsible for leading functional teams or projects and is regarded as a specialist in the field of proposals. As such, they must have in-depth expertise in proposals as well as broad knowledge of the proposals discipline within the commercial function.
Essential Qualifications and Education:
7 years of Bids & Proposals experience
Ability to work as a team member as well as act as team leader
Maintain key competencies associated with the Proposals function
Ability to effectively communicate with team members and management
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, Access)
Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
General Corporate Responsibilities:
Liaise with and support the Corporate Audit function for annual Business Line proposal related audits
Provide departmental strategic initiatives and support the monthly Proposals Key Performance Indicators (KPI) reporting process to EXCOM
Business Line Responsibilities:
Responsible for preparation and timely submission of all assigned tenders with Proposals and Senior Proposals Specialists
Coordinate workload and resource allocation with Proposal Manager
Monitor appropriate coordination activities of Proposals and Senior Proposals Specialists
Provide bid action list close out and documentation
Co-chair bid kick-off meetings and schedule progress meetings as required
Ensure basis of bid and bid inputs align with strategy and customer requirements
Oversee bid submission and subsequent clarifications
Manage and facilitate bid delivery meetings, review process, presentations, and associated actions
Monitor the progress of the bidding activity to ensure deliverables are successfully achieved for bid submission
Develop and ensure challenge skills are integrated throughout the bid review process
Assist with client negotiations
Develop Lessons Learned for bid submissions and the bid process for wider cascade to the business via the Estimating and Proposals Managers and required close out actions if any
Accountable for the financial and technical success of the bid or area of bid responsibility
