Principal Mechanical Engineer

The Role
Our Global Design & Engineering Consultancy client has a new requirement for a well experienced consultant Associate Director - Mechanical to join their team in Dubai to work on high profile projects in the Emirates. Successful candidates will have a proven background as a Principal / Lead Mechanical Engineer on large scale building projects with both technical and leadership expertise coupled with a proven background working in a recognised PMC or Consultancy business. This role is available for immediate joining and is a direct hire, permanent opportunity, employed by our client.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Provides sound technical input and knowledge to projects and to the team.
2. Technical leadership of projects and teams requiring in-depth technical involvement in projects.
3. Contributes to the development and growth of the company by identifying new opportunities and potential areas for growth and improvement, and also maintaining and developing existing client relationships.
4. Manages a mechanical design team to ensure successful preparation and delivery of project objectives, including providing technical support.
5. Compiles specifications, drawings, and relevant contract documents, maintaining the required technical quality of work and ensuring that designs comply with the relevant codes, standards, regulations, and procedures.
6. Acts as the lead engineer and liaises with the client and external design team as necessary for successful delivery of projects.
7. Identifies scope and scheduling changes in accordance with the change control process, maintaining planning and cost control on all scope.
8. Assists with the recruitment, appraisal, performance, work, development, morale, and motivation of the team.
9. Provides directional and honest feedback to staff.
10. Provides mentoring and leadership to team under him/her.

Requirements:

1. Principal / Associate Mechanical Engineer Experience:
2. A relevant degree in Mechanical Building Services Engineering, or equivalent qualification or sufficient suitable experience.
3. CEng (or equivalent) with an appropriate professional body.
4. +15 years progressive experience up to Principal / Associate level and have worked in a recognised PMC / Consultancy company previously.
5. Recognised as an expert within the industry.
6. Experience in leading successful and dynamic teams.
7. Experience in technical leadership of large-scale projects.
8. Excellent interpersonal communication and presentation skills, both verbal and written.
9. Team player.
10. Energised, enthusiastic, motivated.
11. Behaviours which demonstrate integrity, straight-talking, respectful, and fair.
