JOB DESCRIPTIONWood is recruiting for a Principal Civil Engineer to join its UAE Business Unit to manage a project team independently consisting of Senior Engineer, Engineers, Sr. Designers / Designers & Draftsmen from various disciplines in Sharjah, UAE.
This is a residential position, with possible travel to Iraq for business trips as required.

This project focuses on enhancing degassing stations, optimizing flare systems, and integrating low-carbon solutions to support our client's energy transition and emissions reduction goals.

Key Objectives- Lead, motivate, coach and manage a project team independently.
- Ensure budget, timing, and quality of engineering works are executed as required.
- Ensure projects are executed in accordance with our quality system and company procedures.
- Facilitate effective communications and coordination between all supervised staff, Lead Engineers of other departments, and Project Managers.
- Monitor overall productivity and efficiency of projects, forecast trends, and anticipate potential problems.
- Implement staffing development plans and assign staff to specific projects or proposals.
- Carry out study works individually or with your team.
- Review tender documents and prepare man-hour estimates.
- Aim for sustainable and efficient solutions.
- Keep up with standards, guidelines, and new techniques in your discipline.
- Collaborate with colleagues, external partners, and clients effectively.
- Prepare estimates of required man hours along with supporting documentation for proposals and major change orders.

Expected:- Qualified Civil / Structural Engineer holding a Bachelor's degree as a minimum.
- At least 15 years of relevant technical experience in designing concrete and steel structures.
- Thorough knowledge of industry practices, codes, and standards applicable to civil and structural engineering.
- Fluent in both written and spoken English.
- Familiar with the creation of tender documents.
- Hands-on experience in industry software, such as STAAD Pro, SAP, Mat 3D, Foundation 3D, 3D Model Review Tools (SPR & Navis Works), MS Office Suite, etc.
- Experience in reviewing Key Deliverables prepared by Civil / Structural teams or produced by other work-share offices.
- Experience in Brownfield and FEED.
- Good communication skills and a team player.
- Client-oriented, flexible, and willing to take extra effort.
- Demonstrated strong engineering competence, interpersonal/team building skills, and leadership skills.
- Willingness to travel to Basra, Iraq.
