Aldar Education are currently seeking an outstanding Teacher of Year 5 for the Middle School at Mamoura British Academy in Abu Dhabi commencing in the 2025-2026 academic year.
Mamoura British Academy is a British curriculum, mixed gender school until Year 9 and a girl’s only Senior School. It is located in a state of the art building in the heart of Abu Dhabi. This role is a very specific primary role that feeds into our Middle School, which allows for a supportive transition from the Primary to Secondary model. Our Year 5 team all have a homeroom class but also specialize in a core subject area that they teach to all of Year 5. This allows our students to transition into having different teachers while also enabling teachers to specialize in an area in which they feel most confident. This role is for a primary teacher who would like to specialize in either English, Maths, or Science with a Year 5 cohort.

Roles and responsibilities include:

- Working cooperatively with curriculum support staff (where applicable) to support student development
- Acting as a class teacher and supporting the pastoral needs of students.
Teaching and Learning:
- Clear understanding of the Primary English National Curriculum
- Organising classroom provision learning resources and creating displays to encourage a positive and engaging learning environment
- Planning, preparing, and presenting sessions that cater to the needs of the whole ability range within the classes taught
- Motivating pupils with enthusiastic, imaginative teaching
- Observing and assessing children in line with the school assessment policy
- Being reflective of the classroom provision, sessions taught, progress made, and adjusting environment, planning, and curriculum to reflect this
- Ensure the Mamoura British Academy Teacher and Learner DNA language and attitudes are being embedded throughout the curriculum.
Assessment and Data:
- Taking responsibility for the progress of classes taught
- Meeting the requirements for the assessment and recording of pupils' development using Learning Ladders
- Using data provided by assessments to influence further planning, provision, and intervention
- Providing feedback to parents and carers on a student’s progress at Parent Teacher Conferences and other meetings.
Behavior Management and Duties:
- Follow the school’s Behaviour Policy
- Manage classes effectively, using approaches that are appropriate to students’ needs to inspire, motivate, and challenge pupils
- Maintain excellent relationships with pupils, exercise appropriate authority, and act decisively when necessary within the school’s Behaviour Policy
- Be a positive role model and consistently demonstrate the positive attitudes, values, and behavior that are expected of pupils
- Have high expectations of behavior, promoting self-control and independence of all learners
- Ensure the Mamoura Values DNA language and attitudes are being embedded throughout the curriculum
- Carry out duties as directed and within the school’s policy.
Wider Professional Responsibilities:
- To work as part of a department team, supporting planning, assessment, resources, and special events linked to that team
- Support the organizing and taking part in school events, outings, and activities, which may take place at weekends or in the evening
- Communicate effectively with parents/carers about students’ achievements and well-being using school systems/processes such as CPOMS as appropriate
- Make a positive contribution to the wider life and ethos of the school
- Run a weekly ECA each term.
Additional requirements for this role:
Minimum Qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Education or a Bachelor's Degree in a related subject with PGCE or equivalent.
Minimum Experience:
- Minimum 2 years teaching experience in English National Curriculum
