Port Captain (Supercargo)

Our client is a leader in the shipping and transportation of oil and chemical products. They are looking for an experienced Port Captain (Supercargo) to oversee the operations of vessels carrying these products.

This role focuses on ensuring the tanks on these ships are clean, safe, and ready for different types of liquids, while also optimizing the voyage and keeping operational costs low.

Responsibilities:

1. Tank Preparation & Cleaning:
   Prepare and clean tanks on product and chemical carriers of various sizes, both remotely and on-site. Work with different tank coatings, including Stainless Steel, Zinc, and Epoxy, using high-quality brands like APC, International, Sigma, Jotun, and Chugoku. Ensure tanks meet the highest purity standards, whether for Clean Petroleum Products (CPP) or high-purity chemicals like palm oils. Maintain an exceptional track record, with zero rejected tanks due to cleanliness, using unique tank cleaning methods.
2. Voyage Management Support:
   Assist Voyage Managers with planning, including route optimization, maximizing cargo accommodation, and ensuring efficient stowage. Monitor fuel efficiency and track voyage performance on a daily basis to ensure smooth operations.
3. Inspections & Supervision:
   Conduct routine inspections on vessels to supervise equipment and operational procedures. Ensure tanks and their protective coatings are maintained to the highest standards.
4. Marine Management:
   Act as the Marine Manager from the owner's side, overseeing the ship's Operating Expenses (OPEX) and controlling Capital Expenditures (CAPEX) for repairs or upgrades. Lead and manage Dry Docking (DD) projects, ensuring timely and cost-efficient execution.

Qualifications:

• Extensive experience in a Port Captain (Supercargo) role, specifically with product and chemical carriers.
• Strong knowledge of tank cleaning and coating materials, including Stainless Steel, Zinc, and Epoxy.
• Proven success in tank preparation and cleaning, with a track record of zero rejected tanks.

Skills:

• Expertise in optimizing shipping routes, maximizing cargo, and improving fuel efficiency.
• Ability to conduct thorough inspections and ensure tank coatings are up to standard.
• Strong management skills, with experience in controlling costs and overseeing large maintenance projects.
