Plant Operator Assistant

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Carries out safe handling unloading/loading of cylinders and other materials to/from vehicles.
2. Counts the cylinders in stacks and in vehicles.
3. Identifies the cylinders and segregates them by the indicators of size, filled, empty, EMGAS, Non-EMGAS, manufactured retest date, and abnormalities.
4. Takes care of sealing, stencilling, labelling, leak check, and filling of cylinders.
5. Handles decanting of cylinders as well as hydrotesting, punching, valve fixing, and removal activities.
6. Identifies, segregates, and fills cylinders as per procedure. Ensures cylinders are filled within accepted tolerance.
7. Carries out all jobs as advised by the Shift Supervisor, including general cleaning, housekeeping, and washing of cylinders.
8. Assists in equipment maintenance and does painting of cylinders, pipelines, equipment, and vehicles.
9. Participates in internal training and briefing, gaining knowledge about all products and their safe handling practices.
10. Observes all safety norms and carries out duties in accordance with prescribed safety procedures.
11. Ensures that workplace hazards are reported to the Shift Supervisor/Plant Manager.
12. Participates in fire drills and other emergency procedures.
13. Takes appropriate emergency measures when required.
14. Knows the Company’s and Environment Health & Safety Policy, Procedures, Regulations, and Objectives as they relate to his area of responsibility and ensures that they are effectively implemented in his domain.
15. Should be flexible to work in different shifts based on work requirements and weekly schedule.

SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS:

1. Minimum pass in Senior Secondary level (10+2). Experience in the oil & gas industry is preferred.
2. Good interpersonal skills to maintain cordial working relations with colleagues, superiors, and customers.
3. Basic knowledge of safety and related procedures; experience in an ISO Quality environment will be advantageous.
4. Good communication skills are essential, combined with the ability to read and understand work instructions in English and prepare documents and maintain records.
5. Knowledge of other languages will be advantageous.
6. Basic computer knowledge, especially MS Office, is advantageous.
7. Must maintain basic hygiene and keep staff room, pantry, and toilet areas clean.
8. Age: 25 to 35 preferred. Should be physically fit and healthy to perform manual intensive field jobs, able to endure extreme heat and with no known medical conditions (Blood pressure, Diabetes, Back ache, Arthritis, etc.).
