Job description

Planning Engineer (Infrastructure)

The Planning Engineer is responsible for developing, monitoring, and updating project schedules to ensure efficient execution of infrastructure construction projects. They coordinate with project teams, contractors, and stakeholders to track progress, identify risks, and optimize resources.

Key Responsibilities

Project Planning & Scheduling

  • Develop detailed project schedules using Primavera P6, MS Project, or other scheduling software.
  • Define project scope, work breakdown structure (WBS), and milestones.
  • Allocate resources and manpower effectively.

Progress Monitoring & Reporting

  • Track project progress against the baseline schedule.
  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly reports on project status.
  • Analyze delays and recommend corrective actions.
  • Conduct schedule risk analysis and provide mitigation strategies.

Coordination & Communication

  • Liaise with project managers, engineers, subcontractors, and clients to ensure alignment on schedules.
  • Attend progress meetings and provide updates on schedule performance.
  • Coordinate with procurement and logistics teams to align material deliveries with the schedule.

Risk Analysis & Mitigation

  • Identify potential project risks and develop mitigation plans.
  • Evaluate the impact of design changes, scope variations, and site conditions on project schedules.
  • Develop recovery plans for delayed activities.

Resource & Cost Optimization

  • Ensure optimal use of resources, including labor, equipment, and materials.
  • Assist in project budgeting and cost control by linking schedules with financial plans.

Compliance & Documentation

  • Maintain accurate documentation of project plans, updates, and reports.
  • Ensure compliance with contractual and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist in claim preparation for delays and extensions of time (EOT).

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • 3-10 years of experience in planning and scheduling infrastructure projects.
  • Proficiency in Primavera P6, MS Project, and Excel.
  • Strong understanding of project management principles, construction methodologies, and contract management.
  • Knowledge of FIDIC contracts and claims management is a plus.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and coordination abilities.
