Job description

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Project Engineer with experience in fit-out projects to join our team. The Project Engineer will be responsible for overseeing the planning, execution, and completion of fit-out works in commercial, residential, and mixed-use buildings. The role involves managing the entire fit-out process, including coordinating with contractors, vendors, designers, and clients, while ensuring quality, budget adherence, and project timelines are met.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in managing interior fit-out projects, with hands-on experience in site coordination, materials procurement, and contractor management. This is an exciting opportunity for an engineer passionate about delivering high-quality fit-out projects in diverse sectors.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Fit-Out Project Planning and Coordination:
    • Oversee the planning and execution of fit-out projects, including detailed scheduling, resource allocation, and milestone management.
    • Develop project plans, ensuring all deliverables, milestones, and deadlines are identified and tracked.
    • Liaise with clients, architects, designers, and other stakeholders to ensure the fit-out work meets specifications, timelines, and quality standards.
    • Prepare and manage procurement schedules for materials, furniture, fixtures, and equipment (FF&E), ensuring timely delivery and installation.
  2. Site Supervision and Construction Management:
    • Monitor the day-to-day activities of the fit-out works on-site, ensuring the quality of workmanship, adherence to safety protocols, and compliance with building regulations.
    • Coordinate with contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure that all work is carried out as per design and engineering specifications.
    • Ensure proper sequencing of tasks, such as MEP installations, drywall, flooring, ceiling works, painting, and finishes, to ensure smooth project flow.
    • Conduct site inspections and quality checks to verify that the fit-out works are carried out in accordance with the approved design, technical drawings, and industry standards.
  3. Budget and Cost Control:
    • Develop and maintain project budgets, ensuring that fit-out projects are completed within the allocated budget.
    • Track expenses and manage cost reports to identify discrepancies and mitigate cost overruns.
    • Manage procurement processes and vendor contracts to ensure materials are sourced cost-effectively while maintaining quality.
    • Review and approve payments to subcontractors and suppliers based on project milestones and contract terms.
  4. Project Documentation and Reporting:
    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date project documentation, including contracts, change orders, design drawings, approvals, and progress reports.
    • Prepare and present regular project updates, including site progress, cost status, and any issues to senior management and clients.
    • Generate weekly and monthly reports to track project performance, timelines, costs, and risks.
    • Ensure all project records are archived in compliance with company policies and relevant regulations.
  5. Risk Management and Problem-Solving:
    • Proactively identify risks associated with the fit-out projects, including design issues, construction delays, or supply chain disruptions.
    • Work with the project team to mitigate risks and resolve issues, ensuring minimal impact on project timelines and budget.
    • Implement corrective actions as needed to address delays or quality issues during the fit-out process.
  6. Stakeholder and Client Management:
    • Act as the main point of contact for clients, maintaining strong communication and ensuring satisfaction throughout the project lifecycle.
    • Attend client meetings, providing updates, addressing concerns, and proposing solutions as necessary.
    • Ensure that client requirements are fully understood and reflected in the fit-out design and execution.
  7. Health, Safety, and Compliance:
    • Ensure all work is carried out in compliance with health and safety standards, building codes, and environmental regulations.
    • Conduct safety audits and site inspections to ensure the safe execution of fit-out works.
    • Ensure proper documentation and compliance with relevant local laws and building permits.
  8. Final Handover and Post-Project Support:
    • Oversee the final inspection and testing of fit-out works, ensuring that all systems (e.g., HVAC, lighting, electrical) are operational and that the project is delivered to the client's satisfaction.
    • Coordinate the handover process to the client, ensuring all documentation, warranties, and manuals are provided.
    • Assist clients with any post-completion issues and provide ongoing support during the warranty period.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Architectural Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • Experience: A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in project engineering, specifically with fit-out or interior construction projects.
  • Proven track record of successfully delivering fit-out projects on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
  • Experience managing both large-scale and smaller fit-out projects, including corporate offices, retail spaces, hotels, and residential buildings.
  • Familiarity with local building codes, safety regulations, and fit-out standards.
