Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
Minimum 5 years of proven experience in piping design, preferably with experience in natural gas or CNG projects involving high-pressure distribution systems.
Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, PDMS, SmartPlant, or equivalent) for piping design and layout.
Strong knowledge of hydraulic calculation tools and piping stress analysis software (e.g. PIPENET, CAESAR II).
AspenHYSYS, DWSIM, or equivalent process simulation software is an advantage.
Experience with PRMS design and familiarity with natural gas piping codes and standards (IGEM, ASME B31.3, B31.8, API).
Excellent problem-solving, communication, and analytical skills, with commercial acumen to support cost-effective design decisions.
Responsibilities:
Develop piping layouts, P&IDs, isometrics, and flow diagrams for CNG and natural gas systems, perform hydraulic and engineering calculations, and design optimized PRMS for reliable and efficient gas distribution.
Proficient in industry codes and standards (IGEM, ASME B31.3, API 570, API 610, ASTM, ISO 14692, ANSI, and NACE), selecting and evaluating gas equipment and materials for safety, durability, and compliance, while staying updated on advancements in materials, technologies, and design software to enhance system reliability and reduce costs.
Collaborate with project managers on cost estimates, make cost-effective design decisions balancing technical and commercial goals, and assess systems for potential upgrades to improve efficiency and reduce maintenance costs.
Ensure designs comply with local UAE regulations and international standards, implementing safety measures like shutoff valves, pressure relief systems, and explosion-proof components for personnel and equipment protection.
Prepare engineering documentation, including design calculations, reports, material requisitions, and inspection records, while producing accurate isometric drawings, weld maps, and BOMs, and maintaining clear records of budgets, design changes, and as-built drawings.
