Physical Therapist - Clinical Graduate Trainee ( UAEN)

All duties will be performed under the direct supervision of a Registered health practitioner or Clinical Instructor of relevant discipline. The caregiver holding an internship position is responsible for providing general and specialized direct and indirect patient care through the application of evidence based clinical practices to patients of all ages in assigned unit(s). This position is also responsible for demonstrating competency in discipline specific clinical practice, contributing to an interdisciplinary approach to the behavioral, growth, development and psychosocial needs of patients being treated and care for.

Education Requirements: Bachelor's degree in a relevant healthcare discipline from a recognized tertiary institution with 3.0 and above GPA.

  • Graduate interns are responsible and accountable for making decisions in relation to care delivery, within their scope of practice and level of competency.

PRIMARY JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Identifies and documents self-learning needs and limitations.
  • Participates in the full graduate training program comprising eLearning, classroom sessions, simulation and clinical practice rotations.
  • Works closely under the supervision, and in consultation with, the nominated Clinical Managers, Coaches and Clinical Educators, to demonstrate proficiency in core technical competencies and discipline specific technical skills specific to each clinical rotation.

TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES

PATIENT CARE:

  • Completes timely patient admission and ongoing assessments, plans and updates plan of care based on individual patient needs.
  • Provides direct care and evaluates outcomes, incorporating principles of family centered care.
  • Monitors and documents patients condition and effectiveness of care and interventions.
  • Assesses educational needs of patients and significant others considering cultural needs and other special concerns.
  • Facilitates the incorporation of patient safety and Magnet principles into clinical care.

CLINICAL/PROFESSIONAL KNOWLEDGE:

  • Use the knowledge of one's own role and the roles of other professions to appropriately assess and address the health care needs of the patients and populations served.
  • Demonstrates commitment to providing evidence based practice health care by adhering to protocols for the care of patient populations in which assigned, reporting needed changes in practice supported by evidence, and participating in evaluating patient outcomes utilizing evidence.
  • Maintains confidentiality regarding patient and family information by promoting professional interdisciplinary communication.
  • Respects Patient Rights and demonstrates behaviors of a Patients First Philosophy.
  • Incorporates the CCAD Professional Practice model and patient safety principles into clinical practice; reports errors and near-misses.

  • Contribute to the caregiver team in the delivery of patient care collaborating with other disciplines to facilitate achievement of planned and expected outcomes.
  • Apply relationship-building values and the principles of team dynamics to perform effectively in different team roles to plan and deliver patient/population-centered care that is safe, timely, efficient, effective, and equitable.

  • Communicates patient clinical information clearly and accurately, documenting pertinent information in medical record and ensuring complete documentation of patient care.
  • Engages patient and family in hand-off of clinical information and planning daily plan of care as appropriate.
  • Monitors and resolves customer service issues and provides feedback regarding satisfaction results to supervising health practitioner and/or Clinical Leadership.

  • Participates in research and/or quality improvement initiatives, supporting CCAD's research agenda.

  • In view of the evolving needs and opportunities within CCAD, this position may be required to perform other duties as assigned and reporting relationships may vary.
