PETROLEUM INSPECTOR

Job Responsibilities:

1. Comprehension and Execution: Capable of comprehending and executing instructions from the office efficiently.
2. Petroleum Industry Knowledge: Possesses a solid understanding of fundamental operations within the petroleum industry.
3. Petroleum Standards: Familiar with industry standards such as API/HM in the petroleum sector.
4. Quantity Determination: Proficient in performing quantity determinations according to industry standards for various commodities including petroleum products and crude in various containers such as shore tanks, vessel tanks, ISO tanks/drums, and tank trucks.
5. Sampling Expertise: Skilled in conducting sampling as per industry standards with knowledge of various sampling methods including running all-level spot upper/middle/lower and dead bottom. Well-versed in the different types of samplers utilized in the petroleum industry.
6. Petrochemical Inspections: Conducts inspections of petrochemicals collecting samples for laboratory analysis retention and clients.
7. Tank Measurement: Physically measures and records the temperature of shore tanks using various methods in accordance with company and API procedures.
8. Quantity Reporting: Calculates and reports transferred quantities conducting thorough reconciliations and capable of performing voyage analysis.
9. Collaboration: Capable of working in cooperation with clients, representatives, vessel agents, vessel personnel, expeditors, superintendents, government agents/authorities, and shore facility personnel to ensure accurate results are achieved.
10. Communication: Maintains regular communication with office staff with reference to job status, problems, concerns, etc.
11. Ethical Conduct: Operates with the highest standards of ethics in alignment with the SGS Services Statement of Integrity.
12. Additional Responsibilities: Performs all other duties and responsibilities as assigned demonstrating a high level of ethics throughout.

Qualifications :

Educational Background: Engineering or equivalent bachelor’s Degree, 7 years of core petroleum inspection experience. Must have a minimum of 3 years of working experience in Ruwais refinery and jetty handling of petroleum and crude / LPG / LNG / Urea / Sulphur etc.

Requirements:

1. Certification: Preferred to have valid IFIA Petroleum Inspector Certification.
2. Communication Skills: Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate information and respond to queries both within and outside the organization.
3. Math Aptitude: Proficiency in basic mathematics including the ability to interpolate calculations for trim list and VCF calculations. Must be capable of interpreting ship calibration tables in both Imperial and Metric systems.
4. Language Proficiency: Fluent in English with excellent communication skills.
5. Physical Requirements:
   • Physically fit to work in confined spaces if needed after training.
   • Physically fit and able to climb storage tank ladders and stairs typically 25 to 35 meters in height.
   • Physically fit and able to climb vessel gangways, stairs, pilot ladder, etc.
   • Capable of carrying up to 67 kg of samples, gear, or equipment.
   • Capable to work in adverse weather conditions such as rain, heat, cold, etc.
   • Must be able to differentiate between colors accurately by sight.
   • Must NOT be color blind.
   • Ready to shave (clean shaven face) as the working site requires using a face mask for safety purposes.
6. Safety Compliance: Willingness to adhere to safety requirements including the use of safety equipment like SCBA and respirators if necessary.
7. Flexibility: Flexible schedule to accommodate extended hours, evening, weekend, and holiday work based on SGS and customer needs.
8. Licenses and Training: Maintaining all required licenses, passes, site, and terminal trainings in an active status without suspension or revocation throughout employment.
9. Work under Pressure: Ability to work effectively under pressure while managing multiple projects with varying deadlines.
10. Independence: Demonstrates the ability to work independently with minimal supervision exercising discretion and independent judgment when necessary.
11. Analytical Skills: Excellent analytical skills capable of making sound suggestions or recommendations in the field.
12. Health and Fitness: Meets minimum health requirements for field inspections and tasks including climbing shore tanks and embarking/disembarking vessels.
13. Medical Conditions: Free from high blood sugar, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, hearing impairments, severe back pain, significant leg defects, and color blindness.
14. Other Requirements: No phobias related to water, heights, or tolerable smells of working commodities. Must be willing to travel by boat, helicopter, or GA aircraft as needed.
