Permanent Overseas Nanny / Governess – Abu Dhabi. Ref FG7011

A British family based in Abu Dhabi is seeking a qualified and experienced nanny / governess to provide sole-charge care and developmental support for their twins – a boy and girl aged 6.

This is a full-time permanent position, working 5.5 days per week. Weekdays are lighter while the children are in school, and a half-day is required on weekends. The children attend a prestigious international school in Abu Dhabi.

The family also employs a housekeeper and a chef, so no cleaning or cooking is required. A car is provided for school runs and activities. The family lives in a friendly expat compound with a pool, tennis court, and playground. Accommodation is a private apartment in a popular area near the water, full of restaurants and expat amenities.

The parents are warm, highly educated, and passionate about the arts and learning. Their home is vibrant, creative, and full of warmth. They are keen to find a loving and proactive candidate who can offer stability and educational support, especially during a time of transition as their current British nanny is sadly returning to the UK for family reasons.

The candidate:

The ideal candidate will be a native-level English speaker, with a minimum of 6 years' experience in a similar nanny / governess role. A background in early childhood education or child psychology is highly desirable.

Experience with SEN (Special Educational Needs), particularly dyspraxia, is essential. The family's son is warm and affectionate and follows a sensory-based OT programme. The successful candidate should be confident in implementing and coordinating therapy recommendations and tracking progress.

The nanny / governess should be proactive, confident, and nurturing – someone with a “can-do” attitude, able to manage school routines, homework, bedtime and creative play. Strong communication and teamwork skills are a must, as is a positive, energetic and caring nature.

The family would welcome someone with prior experience working in the UAE or Gulf region and who is open to traveling with the family (3–4 times per year to Europe, the US, and the Middle East).

All typical nursery and nanny duties apply, including drop-offs, pickups, activity planning, engaging play, and school support. Occasional proxy parenting may be required when both parents travel (house staff and extended family are nearby to support).

Excellent references, a clean driving licence, and a DBS / police check are essential. A handover with the current nanny will be arranged to support a smooth transition.
