Perfusionist

Job Responsibilities

1. Assembles and operates the heart/lung machine within the safe scope of established clinical practice.
2. Manages patient parameters within the accepted safe ranges of established clinical practice.
3. Sets up and operates all available perfusion devices.
4. Supports organ transplant procedures and new surgical procedures.
5. Assists in research, animal testing, and product evaluation.
6. Maintains on-call responsibilities and operating room coverage.
7. Performs department functions such as laboratory coverage, stock of supplies, and equipment maintenance.
8. Provides total patient support during cardiopulmonary bypass.
9. Performs patient charting.
