An Ophthalmologist is a medical doctor who specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of eye disorders and diseases. They perform comprehensive eye examinations, prescribe corrective lenses, and perform surgical procedures to correct vision problems or treat eye conditions. Ophthalmologists may also specialize in specific areas such as pediatric ophthalmology, cornea and refractive surgery, or vitreoretinal diseases.
Responsibilities
Perform comprehensive eye examinations to assess visual acuity, eye health, and diagnose eye conditions.
Prescribe and monitor the use of corrective lenses, such as glasses or contact lenses.
Perform surgical procedures to correct vision problems, such as cataracts or refractive errors.
Treat and manage eye diseases and conditions, including glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, and macular degeneration.
Provide pre-operative and post-operative care for patients undergoing eye surgery.
Educate patients about eye health, preventive measures, and eye care practices.
Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, such as optometrists and ophthalmic technicians.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records.
Minimum Qualifications
Medical degree (MD or DO) with specialization in Ophthalmology.
Valid medical license to practice in the United Arab Emirates.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Experience in a clinical setting preferred.
