Job description

The Superintendent Land Freight Operation is responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of land freight operations within the logistics cluster. This role ensures the efficient and timely delivery of goods, maintains strong client relationships, and upholds high standards of safety and compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Verify packing lists and coordinate the required number and type of vehicles, executing tasks with the team.
  2. Ensure all fleet requirements from clients and coordinators are met promptly and efficiently.
  3. Arrange necessary trucks, manpower, and equipment before loading shipments, ensuring safe cargo handling.
  4. Manage outsourced trucks and oversee their operations.
  5. Issue delivery notes and ensure timely, accurate submission and job closure.
  6. Maintain strong client relationships, providing necessary documents and reports.
  7. Develop and maintain performance metrics, work schedules, and monitor delivery timelines.
  8. Respond to customer follow-ups, address delivery efficiency, and handle justified complaints.
  9. Follow up on the renewal of required permissions and certifications for drivers and vehicles (e.g., DDC, ADSD, H2S, Zone 2).
  10. Oversee daily land freight operations, including inbound and outbound shipments.
  11. Monitor and manage carrier performance, service levels, and rate negotiations.
  12. Implement and maintain efficient transportation management systems.
  13. Develop and implement strategies to improve operational efficiency and reduce costs.
  14. Ensure adherence to transportation policies, procedures, and best practices.
  15. Lead and manage a team of transportation specialists and coordinators.
  16. Recruit, hire, train, and develop team members.
  17. Motivate and inspire the team to achieve operational goals.
  18. Foster a positive and collaborative work environment.
  19. Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, carriers, and vendors.
  20. Proactively address customer inquiries and resolve issues.
  21. Provide exceptional customer service throughout the entire shipping process.
  22. Ensure compliance with all relevant transportation regulations, including customs, import/export, and hazardous materials.
  23. Stay updated on industry regulations and changes.
  24. Implement measures to mitigate risks and ensure compliance.
  25. Analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to identify areas for improvement.
  26. Implement data-driven strategies to optimize operations.
  27. Prepare regular reports on operational performance.

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or related field.
  2. 5+ years of experience in land freight operations, including domestic and international shipments.
  3. Strong understanding of transportation modes (trucking, rail, etc.) and logistics principles.
  4. Proven leadership and team management skills.
  5. Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  6. Experience with customs brokerage and international trade regulations is preferred.
  7. Knowledge of specific regional transportation regulations is advantageous.
