Oil and Gas Risk Engineer - 70,000 - 128,000 PA tax free (including housing allowance) + benefits - UAE (Abu Dhabi or Dubai)

The Role

Are you an experienced Oil and Gas engineer with a background in hydrocarbon processing? Do you have the expertise to assess, mitigate, and manage risks in the high-hazard energy sector?

We are currently seeking a skilled Oil and Gas Risk Engineer to join a leading player in the international insurance market.

This is an opportunity where you will engage in a full range of risk engineering duties, focusing on the oil and gas sector. You will be responsible for conducting surveys, reviewing maintenance procedures, assessing client insurance needs, investigating claims, and producing detailed reports. Your work will provide valuable insights to underwriters, clients, and advisors.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Conduct physical, condition, and integrity surveys for oil and gas operations.
  2. Review and assess operational and maintenance practices.
  3. Evaluate client insurance specifications and requirements.
  4. Investigate claims and losses and perform risk assessments.
  5. Produce clear, detailed reports for underwriters, clients, and advisors.
  6. Assess offshore and onshore technology and equipment, including topsides.
  7. Regular international travel, approximately 70 days per year.

The Company

Our client is a prestigious player in the international insurance market. The company's interests and expertise cover a range of challenging, high hazard sectors including shipping, aviation, power, construction, energy, refining/petrochemicals, and mass-transport. The organisation's services extend from underwriting technical support to incident analysis, claims assistance, reinsurance advice, business interruption, risk assessment and mitigation, and so on. The business boasts several international offices.

The Person

  1. Degree in an engineering discipline (Chemical Engineering preferred).
  2. Chartered engineer (MIMechE/MIChemE).
  3. Experience working with a major oil company, with strong knowledge of offshore and onshore hydrocarbon processing.
  4. Expertise in oil and gas production and maintenance roles.
  5. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in written and verbal reports.
  6. Comfortable with international travel (up to 70 days per year).
  7. Risk engineering knowledge and insurance industry experience is desirable, but not essential.
