Mud Engineer

Responsibilities

1. Controls the technology to prepare the drilling mud
2. Monitors the drilling fluid mud cleaning system's operation
3. Participates in the optimization of the flushing fluids and cleaning equipment modes of operation
4. Recommends optimal operating modes for cleaning fluid stages
5. Ensures the biopolymer fluid parameters comply with work plans
6. Recommends treatment of drilling fluid with reagents
7. Recommends the replacement of drilling fluid to maintain optimal parameters and drilling fluid system properties
8. Ensures compliance with labor discipline and technological and safety regulations
9. Complies with the requirements for non-disclosure of confidential information
10. Minimizes waste associated with draining fluids
11. Works with drilling engineers and technicians to ensure a cost-effective drilling process
12. Measures the right amount of mud needed at all stages
13. Assists technicians during the drilling process
14. Provides input in the selection of drill bits

Requirements

1. Expert knowledge of fluid systems, drilling fluids, and drilling bits
2. Knowledge of safety protocols and environmental regulations
3. Ability to create detailed mud logs
4. Knowledge of different drilling contaminants, additives, and mud treatment
5. Proficient understanding of waste management
6. Technical knowledge in mathematics, physics, geology, and chemistry
7. Knowledge of various extraction techniques
8. Strong IT skills
9. Interpretational and cooperation skills
10. Strong communication skills
11. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
12. Ability to work well under pressure and in a fast-paced environment
