Deal in metallurgy and welding for onshore plants, offshore and floaters topside facilities and pipelines of Oil and Gas industry, Refinery processes, Urea and Ammonia plants related to the metallic materials and allied fabrication process, through all its aspects
Provide specialized assistance and technical support on welding activities during fabrication and construction phases
Coordinate failure analysis and welding trial test
Qualifications and Experience:
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Metallurgical Engineering or equivalent
5+ years experience in metallurgy-welding engineering
Track record of EPCI projects execution for Middle East clients (Saudi Aramco, QP, QG, ADNOC)
Tasks:
The Engineer executes the activities within his area of responsibility, ensuring the compliance with the QA/QC and HSE requirements. Tasks include:
A - Know How, Research and Development Technology and Commercial Support
Liaise with metallic material and welding consumables manufacturer to promote advances in special metallic material product and allied welding technology
Liaise with Urea and Special Technologies Process Departments and Urea HP Equipment Inspector to monitor performance of Special Metallic Materials
Liaise with independent research bodies (e.g. TWI, EWI, IIS) to develop the application of new metallic materials, technologies and test
B - Feasibility phase
Assist the technical activities for Metallic Materials and allied fabrication process Research and Development projects
Provide Metallurgical and Welding support to all engineering disciplines to comply with contractual requirements and with the updated technological criteria
C - Bidding phase / Commercial proposal development
Evaluate Client/End User tender documents and requirements relevant to metallic materials and allied fabrication process
Prepare Non-Destructive Examination extension (percentage) estimation table for piping/pipeline construction welds
Prepare WPS estimation for piping/pipeline direct hiring construction welds
D - Project Execution and Operational Phase
Prepare technical standard and specifications for special metallic materials and welding consumables
Prepare/Update Company Welding General Specifications and Standards
Prepare/Update Company PMI General Specifications for piping/pipeline construction and Standards
Prepare/Update Quality Control Specification and Inspection Testing Plan for site welding activities
Review technical purchase specification for special metallic materials and welding consumables issued by Vendors
Review welding documents (WPS/PQR) issued by Manufacturer/Vendor
Review heat treatment procedure issued by Manufacturer/Vendor
Review process procedures (e.g. hydrogen disbonding, hot forming, ferrite test) that can impair/modify metallurgical structure of metallic materials to be employed for Urea and Special Technologies high pressure equipment, issued by Manufacturer/Vendor
Define and witness welding trial test for special material
Issue piping/pipeline construction NDT table
Issue WPS for piping/pipeline direct hiring construction welds
E - Construction and Commissioning
Review the repair procedure of metallic materials, issued by Manufacturer/Vendor or End User Maintenance Service
Manage technical meetings with Client/End User and involved manufacturers to solve metallurgical issues
Manage failure analysis investigations
Review WPS/PQR and heat treatment procedure for piping/pipeline, tank, sphere and special (golden joint) construction welds issued by sub-contractor
Provide assistance to site activities and to the Welding Quality Control Supervisor/Inspectors
Prepare purchase requisition of welding consumables for Urea and Special materials
F - Home office special activities
Support the Urea and Special Technologies Process Departments on welding and metallurgical matters
Review journal and technical papers related to metallic materials and allied fabrication process technology and update with new articles the Company Database
