Job Purpose:

The Procurement Officer for MEP is responsible for managing the procurement process of MEP materials, equipment, and services required for construction and maintenance projects. This role involves ensuring cost-effective sourcing, compliance with company standards, and on-time delivery to support smooth operations within the project.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Procurement Planning:
    • Assist in preparing procurement plans and strategies for MEP projects.
    • Coordinate with project teams to identify MEP requirements and specifications.
    • Estimate material quantities and assess vendor capacity.
  2. Supplier and Vendor Management:
    • Research, identify, and select suppliers for MEP materials and equipment.
    • Negotiate contracts and agreements with suppliers, ensuring best value, quality, and delivery schedules.
    • Maintain relationships with existing suppliers and evaluate their performance.
  3. Sourcing and Purchasing:
    • Ensure the timely procurement of MEP materials and equipment, including HVAC systems, electrical components, plumbing systems, etc.
    • Issue purchase orders and manage vendor responses.
    • Ensure adherence to procurement procedures and policies.
  4. Cost Control and Budgeting:
    • Work within allocated budgets and monitor expenditure for procurement of MEP-related items.
    • Analyze market trends to identify cost-saving opportunities.
  5. Quality Assurance:
    • Ensure that procured materials meet quality standards and project specifications.
    • Liaise with the quality control team to confirm compliance with quality requirements.
  6. Logistics and Delivery Management:
    • Monitor the delivery of materials and equipment to ensure timely receipt.
    • Track shipments and resolve any issues related to delays or discrepancies in orders.
  7. Documentation and Reporting:
    • Maintain accurate records of procurement transactions and supplier communications.
    • Prepare and submit regular reports on procurement activities and status of MEP items.
  8. Compliance and Safety:
    • Ensure procurement processes comply with legal and organizational standards.
    • Stay updated with MEP industry trends and regulations affecting procurement processes.
  9. Collaboration:
    • Coordinate with the MEP engineering team, project managers, and other stakeholders to ensure procurement aligns with project timelines and specifications.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years in procurement within the MEP or construction industry.
  • Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with MEP systems, construction materials, and related procurement processes.
  • Skills:
    • Strong negotiation and communication skills.
    • Proficiency in procurement software and MS Office Suite.
    • Knowledge of supply chain management, vendor evaluation, and cost analysis.

Work Environment:

  • Office and site visits as required.
  • Occasional travel to supplier locations and project sites.
