Job description

Black & Grey HR is recruiting a Medical Underwriter for our client, a leading insurance company in Dubai, UAE. The ideal candidate will be responsible for assessing medical risks, evaluating insurance applications, and determining policy terms in line with company guidelines. This role requires expertise in medical underwriting, risk assessment, and insurance industry standards.


Responsibilities:

  1. Review and analyze medical history, reports, and test results to assess risk and determine policy eligibility.
  2. Evaluate insurance applications and make underwriting decisions based on company policies and regulatory requirements.
  3. Collaborate with medical professionals, actuaries, and claims teams to ensure accurate risk assessment.
  4. Determine premium rates, policy terms, and coverage limits based on medical and financial risk analysis.
  5. Stay updated on medical advancements, industry trends, and regulatory changes affecting underwriting practices.
  6. Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with underwriting guidelines and industry regulations.
  7. Provide recommendations for policy approvals, declines, or modifications based on thorough risk assessment.
  8. Support sales and customer service teams with underwriting insights and policy-related queries.

Requirements:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Insurance, Finance, or a related field.
  2. Proven experience as a Medical Underwriter in the insurance industry.
  3. Certification in underwriting (e.g., LOMA, AHIP, ALU) is a plus.
  4. Strong understanding of medical terminology, risk assessment, and underwriting principles.
  5. Excellent analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
  6. Proficiency in underwriting software and medical databases.
  7. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to liaise with internal teams and medical professionals.
  8. Knowledge of insurance regulations and compliance standards.
