The Mechanical Technician optimizes the performance of mechanical products, machinery, and equipment. They assist the mechanical supervisor to analyze performance results and maintain mechanical equipment and machinery.
Key Responsibilities:
- Installing and performing diagnostic tests on mechanical systems.
- Troubleshooting mechanical malfunctions and breakdowns, as well as performing repairs.
- Documenting processes and maintaining mechanical service records.
- Monitoring the availability of parts and replenishing supplies.
- Optimizing mechanical efficiency by adjusting machinery and equipment settings.
- Training co-workers on the safe and efficient use of mechanical machinery and equipment.
- Checking equipment and operating systems and correcting wherever necessary.
- Handling personal tools for the job including an up-to-date documented personal tool list.
- Handling time accounting and completing HOTSOS work orders.
- Using hand tools like power equipment and rigging equipment daily.
- Welding using a cutting torch.
- Handling simple and complex heavy industrial equipment like scissor lifts and building maintenance units (BMU).
- Resolving motor, pump, conveyor, and hydraulic problems.
- Ensuring a high level of technical support to lower-level technicians.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Minimum of three (3) years working experience in the Engineering Department in a hotel.
- Knowledge of Engineering Operations in the hotel.
- Previous experience in operation and maintenance of electrical and mechanical equipment.
- Ability to troubleshoot and maintain commercial equipment and related installations in the hotel.
- High school diploma or GED and/or an associate degree supplemented by specialized training in the mechanical trades.
