Job Purpose
The Mechanical Static Engineer will be responsible for Static Equipment Design and Engineering as per project requirements in compliance with all applicable and relevant legislation, standards, codes, and specifications. Execute the projects according to the work scope, schedule, and budget.
What you'll do
- To perform inspections and site surveys as requested and developing preliminary project scope and estimations.
- To liaise with third-Party Regulation Authorities (ASME A.I., Class, etc.) to ensure compliance with the relevant legislation, standards, codes, etc.;
- Coordinate activities and resolve issues among clients, contractors, and other parties to allow manufacturing activities to progress according to plan and finalize mechanical completion.
- Resolve project management problems related to your area of expertise, including project planning deficiencies, project quality defects (in engineering, procurement, or construction), schedule slippages, and potential cost overruns.
- Perform and/or review mechanical pressure equipment calculations reports, through hand calculations, Excel spreadsheets, and/or with the aid of design software.
- Prepare and/or review appropriate Bill of Materials/Material Take-off for procurement, including optimization.
- Work closely with project engineers and other project professionals to provide work direction and guidance.
- Participate in the development of standards, guidelines, instructions, policies, and procedures on an as-required basis.
- Participate in the reviews and evaluation of the capabilities of Engineering & Construction contractors, suppliers, and project management-related service providers.
- To be in charge of maintaining the Company's ASME certification.
- To provide assistance to maintain the Company's ISO certification as related to engineering design.
- Manage and maintain Pressure vessel standards databases, verify data accuracy, and create reports and queries. Update and maintain engineering documentation and drawings.
- To participate in interdisciplinary coordination and design reviews;
- To execute additional tasks not listed here above but necessary to the Company depending on needs.
Taking ownership of the organization's QHSE policy
- Accountable to create a safe working environment, managing risks and reducing exposure to hazards to levels practically achievable and ensuring implementation of QHSE Policy.
- Complying with all IMS Procedures, QA/QC standards as applicable to deliver works safely and maintain the highest standards of quality with minimal environmental impacts.
- Wear appropriate safety or protective equipment as identified or required through risk assessments or as specified, at all times.
- Contributing to the enhancement of quality, health, safety, and environment within the organization.
What we're looking for
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent recognized engineering qualification;
- Literate in MS Office suite;
- 5 years of experience as a static pressure equipment engineer in the Oil & Gas and Power industry;
- Experience of working with multi-national and multi-cultural project teams.
Specific Skills:
- Broad and extensive knowledge of Static Equipment Industry design standards, specifications, codes, and safety criteria.
- Well-versed in static equipment design codes and standards such as API, ASME codes, and TEMA, etc.
- Must have thorough knowledge of static equipment design, fabrication, and inspections for:
- Pressure vessels as per ASME VIII div. 1 & 2 (EN 1344 / PD 5500 is a Plus).
- Tube and Shell Heat Exchangers as per ASME VII div. 1 & TEMA (EN 1344 / PD 5500 is a Plus).
- Boiler/ HRSG/WHRU Components as per ASME I (EN 12952/12953 is a plus).
- Wind and seismic verification calculations.
- External clips / Nozzles Load Verifications.
- Supports / internals verifications.
- Practical experience of pressure equipment repair, including the development of work scopes and repair options.
- Knowledgeable of mechanical properties and degradation mechanisms for common materials of construction such as carbon steel, low chrome and nickel alloy steels, austenitic stainless steel, etc.
- Thermal rating for shell and tube heat exchangers is an advantage.
- Good knowledge of welding details and all the fabrication/inspection processes.
- Able to operate specialized engineering software like AutoCAD, PV Elite, ProBad, etc.
- Well-versed with third-Party Regulation Authorities design appraisal practices.
