Job Brief
The Incumbent will direct and coordinate activities of workers engaged in repair, maintenance, and installation of machines, tools, and equipment, ensuring continuous production/operations. He/She will be responsible for all aspects of maintenance, development, and testing activities to ensure the business objectives/production targets are met, while maintaining the highest levels of workmanship for all maintenance activities.
Objectives of this role:
- Conduct routine inspections of machinery and equipment to identify any potential issues or malfunctions.
- Execute repairs and replacements of faulty components as needed.
- Respond to breakdowns and emergencies promptly to minimize downtime.
- Ensure there is no production loss or quality issues due to prolonged maintenance issues of machines.
- Adhere to all service level agreements (SLAs) and standard operating procedures, suggesting changes and updates whenever necessary.
- Prepare a list of critical and important spares and ensure availability of spare parts by maintaining minimum stock levels with engineering stores for faster resolutions.
- Offer technical support to other departments to address equipment-related issues.
- Respond to emergency maintenance situations outside of regular working hours.
- Assist Manager/Seniors in the installation of new machines as per the guidelines given by the manufacturer/seniors.
- Ensure that all maintenance activities comply with safety regulations and industry standards.
- Conduct safety inspections and implement measures to enhance workplace safety.
- Provide training to operators and other staff on proper equipment use and basic maintenance tasks.
- Develop preventive maintenance programs/schedules in conjunction with the production team.
- Execute preventive maintenance schedules on the production floor and maintain dashboards and health cards of each machine to track its performance.
- Proactively educate the workforce and supervisors to provide first aid solutions on the shop floor by tagging guidelines of machine use.
- Complete documentation of preventive maintenance for internal and external audits, ensuring it has contributed to the efficiencies and productivity of machines.
Work Skills:
● Proven experience in maintenance engineering roles within a manufacturing unit.
● Strong technical knowledge of extrusion machinery and equipment, including mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
● Proficiency in diagnosing and troubleshooting equipment malfunctions, with hands-on experience in performing repairs and adjustments.
● Familiarity with preventive maintenance practices and spare parts management.
● Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail in conducting maintenance checks and documentation.
● Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
● Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
● Degree/Diploma holder in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field with 6-8 years of relevant experience.
