Mechanical Draftsman

Key Responsibilities:

Drafting and Design:

1. Prepare detailed mechanical drawings for construction projects including layouts for HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and other mechanical systems.
2. Ensure that designs are in compliance with building codes, regulations, and industry best practices.
3. Revise and update drawings based on project changes and client feedback.

Collaboration:

1. Coordinate with engineers and project managers to understand project requirements and translate them into precise drawings.
2. Communicate with construction teams to ensure that mechanical systems are correctly installed according to the specifications.

3D Modeling and BIM:

1. Utilize CAD and BIM software (AutoCAD, Revit, etc.) to create 3D models and coordinate mechanical systems within the overall building design.
2. Assist in clash detection and resolving design conflicts in coordination with other disciplines (architectural, structural, electrical).

Documentation and Reporting:

1. Maintain accurate records of design revisions, project drawings, and technical documentation.
2. Generate reports and deliverables as required by the project team or client.

Site Visits:

1. Occasionally visit construction sites to verify mechanical installations, ensure compliance with drawings, and address onsite challenges.

Quality Assurance:

1. Review mechanical systems and drawings for accuracy, ensuring compliance with project specifications, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

Education:

1. Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Drafting Technology, or a related field.
2. Certification in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, SolidWorks) is a plus.

Experience:

1. Minimum 5 years of experience as a Mechanical Draftsman, preferably in the construction or engineering industry.
2. Proven experience in drafting mechanical systems including HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems.

Skills:

1. Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit, and other drafting software.
2. Strong knowledge of building codes, mechanical systems design, and construction processes.
3. Familiarity with BIM and 3D modeling software.
4. Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in drafting and design.
5. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
6. Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment and independently when required.

Additional Requirements:

1. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
2. Basic knowledge of mechanical systems and their installation in construction projects.
3. Willingness to travel to construction sites as required.
