Math Teacher

International Community Schools Abu Dhabi is seeking a passionate dedicated and dynamic Math Teacher to join our innovative and collaborative faculty. Key Responsibilities:

1. Plan, prepare and deliver well-structured, engaging and challenging lessons across various grade levels (Primary/Secondary) that align with the school's curriculum and national/international standards including the International Baccalaureate (IB) and Cambridge International Examinations (CIE).
2. Use diverse teaching methods and resources including interactive technology to cater to different learning styles and foster a deeper understanding of mathematical concepts.
3. Develop creative lesson plans that challenge students to apply mathematical reasoning to real-world problems and encourage independent thinking.
4. Regularly assess student performance through formative and summative assessments including tests, quizzes, projects and oral presentations.
5. Provide constructive and timely feedback to students on their academic progress and areas for improvement.
6. Maintain accurate and detailed records of student progress and collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement effective strategies for student success.
7. Differentiate instruction and learning materials to accommodate students of varying academic abilities ensuring each student can access the curriculum and achieve their full potential.
8. Provide additional support and enrichment for students who require further assistance or challenge including differentiated homework, group work and one-on-one tutoring sessions.
9. Create and maintain a positive, safe and respectful classroom environment where students feel encouraged to participate, take risks and make mistakes.
10. Implement effective classroom management strategies to ensure a focused and disciplined learning environment.
11. Foster a growth mindset by encouraging students to approach challenges with resilience and perseverance.
12. Actively participate in team meetings, departmental discussions and school-wide initiatives to enhance the overall quality of education.
13. Collaborate with colleagues in the Mathematics Department and across other disciplines to plan interdisciplinary lessons and projects that promote the application of mathematical concepts in various contexts.
14. Participate in ongoing professional development attending workshops, conferences and seminars to keep up to date with the latest teaching methodologies, educational technologies and curriculum developments.
15. Contribute to the wider school community by taking part in extracurricular activities such as Math clubs, competitions and other school events that promote a love for mathematics.
16. Support school-wide initiatives including open houses, parent-teacher conferences and school fairs helping to foster strong relationships with parents and the wider school community.

Skills:

1. In-depth understanding of mathematical concepts across various topics (e.g. Algebra, Geometry, Calculus, Statistics).
2. Ability to teach Mathematics at various levels (Primary, Secondary) with a focus on conceptual understanding and application.
3. Familiarity with international curricula such as the International Baccalaureate (IB) and Cambridge International Examinations (CIE).
4. Ability to design, plan and implement lessons that meet curriculum standards while being engaging and challenging.
5. Ability to deliver clear, effective and engaging lessons that accommodate different learning styles.
6. Expertise in creating differentiated instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners from those who need additional support to those who require enrichment.

13. Experience in setting up and analyzing formative and summative assessments adapting teaching based on student performance.
14. Proficient in using educational technology tools to enhance learning (e.g. interactive whiteboards, digital resources, online learning platforms like Google Classroom, Moodle).
15. Ability to incorporate multimedia resources into lessons to make content more engaging and accessible.
16. Experience with technology-based assessment tools for monitoring student progress and providing feedback.
17. Proficiency in maintaining clear communication with parents and guardians regarding student progress, concerns and achievements.
18. Ability to adapt teaching strategies and materials to suit the changing needs of students and the school environment.
19. Open-minded and flexible in integrating new teaching methodologies, feedback and tools.

Requirements

Qualifications:

1. Educational Background:
1. A Bachelor's degree in Mathematics Education or a related field (Master's degree in Mathematics Education or a relevant area preferred).
2. A recognized teaching qualification (e.g. PGCE, teaching diploma or equivalent certification).
2. Experience:
1. Proven experience teaching Mathematics at the secondary school level particularly within international curricula such as IB or Cambridge International Examinations (CIE).
2. Experience in planning and delivering differentiated instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of students.
3. Demonstrated ability to inspire students in mathematics and to convey complex mathematical ideas in an accessible and engaging manner.
