Job Summary:
The Financial Controller - Manufacturing Process will be responsible for the financial management and reporting of our manufacturing operations. This role requires a deep understanding of manufacturing processes, cost accounting, and financial analysis to ensure accurate financial planning, budgeting, and performance evaluation. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in manufacturing finance, exceptional analytical skills, and the ability to drive continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting & Analysis:
- Prepare and present timely and accurate financial statements, reports, and analyses specific to manufacturing operations.
- Monitor and analyze manufacturing costs, variances, and production performance to identify areas for improvement.
- Conduct variance analysis, including material, labor, and overhead variances.
- Budgeting & Forecasting:
- Lead the annual budgeting process for manufacturing operations, including capital expenditure planning.
- Develop and maintain financial models to support forecasting and long-term financial planning.
- Utilize standard costing and activity-based costing methods to ensure accurate budgeting and forecasting.
Cost Control & Optimization:
- Implement and maintain robust cost accounting systems and processes.
- Analyse cost structures and identify opportunities for cost reduction and efficiency improvements.
- Monitor and control manufacturing overhead costs, ensuring accurate allocation to products and processes.
Operational Support:
- Collaborate with production and operations teams to understand financial implications of manufacturing activities.
- Provide financial insights and recommendations to support operational decision-making.
- Utilize job order costing and process costing techniques to ensure accurate product costing.
Compliance & Risk Management:
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, policies, and external regulatory requirements.
- Identify and mitigate financial risks related to manufacturing operations.
- Maintain accurate records for cost audit purposes and support internal and external audits.
Team Leadership:
- Supervise and mentor junior finance staff, fostering a culture of continuous learning and development.
- Lead cross-functional projects to drive financial and operational improvements.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field. A professional accounting qualification (CPA, ACCA, CIMA) is preferred.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a financial management role within a manufacturing environment.
- Proven track record of managing financial controls, budgeting, and cost accounting in a manufacturing setting.
- Experience with cost accounting techniques such as standard costing, activity-based costing, job order costing, and process costing.
Skills:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Proficiency in financial software and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
