Synopsis

The purpose of the Portfolio Management Office (PMO) is threefold: enable the delivery of value to the business through on-time, to-quality, and on-budget project, program, and portfolio execution by way of standardized governance for both waterfall and agile delivery methods.

Provide reporting, insights, and analysis which enable clarity and transparency on portfolio performance. Focus on continuous improvement of DTI PMO processes, systems, and ceremonies.

The role holder will be part of a high-performing PMO team which ensures proactive identification and actioning of risks, blockers, and dependencies, providing visibility at the right levels and through the right channels and assuring the integrity of project, program, and portfolio data, driving reporting that provides the insights to enable real-time decision making and provides the right support to the delivery team and DTI Senior Leadership Team.

The team will collaborate with the Value Stream Leads to provide governance support to Value Streams through matrixed PMO resources who are embedded on a day-to-day basis within their respective value streams. The role of PMO manager requires a confident, proactive PMO professional who is a data-driven analytical thinker and a fast learner with a keen eye for detail.

Accountabilities

  • Develop strong working relationships with colleagues and stakeholders across DTI and Etihad and key external suppliers.

  • Proactively identify opportunities to optimise DTI’s PMO practices, ceremonies, and processes and work collaboratively with colleagues and external suppliers when required to drive the delivery of these optimisations.

  • Where relevant, work in collaboration with more junior members of the team within PMO and across DTI to share knowledge and support the development of their PMO skill set & competencies.

  • Ability to remain resilient and adaptable, effectively managing portfolio demands under shifting priorities and tight deadlines in a fast-paced IT environment.

  • Portfolio Governance: Oversee portfolio level lean agile cadences across DTI including epic/business case development, portfolio prioritisation, and value stream and DTI portfolio focused reporting.

  • Provide executive updates to the DTI Leadership Team and support executive level communications and briefings.

  • Track CAPEX spend, delivery, and performance KPI’s across DTI, facilitating executive level reporting.

  • Confidently lead and facilitate meetings with C-suite executives to drive strategic alignment and transparent reporting, ensuring all data and materials presented are up-to-date and meet the required quality standards.

  • Drive adoption of best practice project, program, and portfolio management practices across DTI including standards, policies, and procedures.

  • Oversee end-to-end project governance and work in collaboration with VSLs and Project Managers to deliver DTI Projects. Set and drive implementation of standards for project, program, and portfolio management capabilities including methodologies, deliverables, tools to be used, etc.

Education & Experience

  • Proven PMO Practitioner with a minimum of 5 years of experience in complex IT environments and software implementations.

  • Experience within the airline industry is beneficial.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration or equivalent is mandatory.

  • Master’s degree would be a strong advantage. Strong project/program/portfolio management experience following both waterfall and agile methods is essential.

  • 3+ years of experience following Agile at scale is essential, i.e., agile applied at a portfolio, value stream, or program level, applying agile and/or scrum as a way of working to deliver technology products.

  • Experience in lean portfolio management is beneficial.

  • Must possess project management/PMO certifications in both waterfall (Prince 2, PMP or equivalent) and Agile (Scrum, SAFe or equivalent).

  • Must have experience of operating at an executive level working with both business and IT executives to drive common approaches and deliver value.

  • Must have experience of developing leading practices in project management within organisations, fostering collaboration between IT and the business and demonstrating a step change in IT delivery KPIs.

  • Knowledge of PowerBI and low code/no code platforms would also be beneficial.

  • Previous Management Consulting experience would also be beneficial given the varied nature of the role.
