Manager of Business Sales (Company Divestiture Specialist)
Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Manager of Business Sales to lead the strategic divestiture of underperforming and non-core companies within our portfolio. The successful candidate will be responsible for maximizing the value of these businesses while ensuring a seamless transition for buyers and compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements. This role is critical for driving efficiency and profitability within the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Assessment & Planning
Conduct comprehensive evaluations of businesses to determine market value, potential buyers, and exit strategies.
Develop and execute tailored sales strategies for each business unit, ensuring alignment with the company’s financial and operational goals.
Market Research & Buyer Identification
Analyze market trends and identify potential buyers or investors with strategic interest in the businesses for sale.
Establish and maintain relationships with brokers, investment firms, and corporate acquirers to broaden the pool of potential buyers.
Negotiation & Transaction Management
Lead end-to-end negotiations, ensuring maximum value is achieved for the company.
Prepare and present compelling sales pitches and business case documents to prospective buyers.
Manage due diligence processes and ensure the availability of accurate and detailed financial, operational, and legal data for buyers.
Stakeholder Coordination
Work closely with internal teams, including finance, legal, and operations, to prepare businesses for sale and streamline the divestiture process.
Collaborate with external advisors, including auditors, legal counsel, and valuation experts.
Compliance & Reporting
Ensure compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements related to divestiture transactions.
Provide regular reports and updates to senior management on progress, risks, and outcomes.
Key Qualifications:
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, or a related field (MBA preferred).
8+ years of experience in corporate divestitures, mergers and acquisitions (M&A), or business sales, with a proven track record of successfully completing transactions.
Strong understanding of valuation methodologies, financial modeling, and market analysis.
Excellent negotiation and communication skills with the ability to build rapport with buyers and stakeholders.
Strategic thinker with the ability to identify opportunities and mitigate risks in complex sales scenarios.
Familiarity with legal and regulatory frameworks governing business sales.
Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple transactions simultaneously.
