About the Role:
Manager - GRC to lead and direct the Governance & Compliance function through the development of strategies, policies, processes, procedures, delegation of authority matrices, and guidelines to mitigate risks and implement necessary procedures to ensure compliance with the company's policies, laws, and regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement the Governance & Compliance strategy and framework incorporating control points, integrated project management, and business objectives to assist the Group in ensuring governance and compliance procedures are implemented effectively.
- Create, adopt, and implement best practices in Corporate Governance for the company. Develop corporate policies in line with corporate guidelines. Contribute to the setup and review of internal governance structures for various functions. Support Internal Audit/Government Audit teams to identify process gaps and opportunities for improvement.
- Ensure the organization adheres to applicable laws, regulations, and internal standards by advising executive management, supporting business units in developing and updating compliance frameworks, assessing internal controls, providing advisory services, and coordinating with the legal team to address regulatory developments.
- Collaborate and develop operational policies, processes, and procedures to ensure standardized practices are in place and guide the relevant team in their implementation within the system.
- Develop departmental DOAs for Vertical core and support functions in alignment with corporate DOA, ensuring appropriate controls are embedded. Coordinate with relevant stakeholders for review prior to approval. Provide guidance on the interpretation of DOAs, policies, and procedures as required by management.
- Conduct compliance reviews of all transactions submitted to the Vertical CEO to ensure compliance with internal policies, procedures, and DOAs.
- Act as a focal point of contact for document submissions to the Executive Committee, ensuring compliance with internal DOAs, policies, and procedures. Disseminate EMC instructions to the relevant Vertical team and provide regular updates to the EMC secretary, as required.
- Promote a governance and compliance culture that upholds the highest ethical standards, ensuring governance and compliance awareness across the Group.
- Develop and manage operational plans and budgets for the department in line with the approved business plan and monitor actual vs. budget costs.
- Provide inputs and suggestions for continuous improvement of departmental/section practices, considering international best practices and changes in the business environment.
The ideal candidate for this position will have the following experience:
- A bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Law, Finance, Accounting, or a related field is a must. A Master's in Business Administration (MBA), Master of Laws (LLM), or a master's in a relevant field such as Compliance, Risk Management, or Corporate Governance is valued.
- 5 to 8 years of experience in compliance, regulatory roles, or a related area, often with at least 3 years in a leadership or senior management position.
- Certifications in Risk Management, Compliance, or Corporate Governance (e.g., ICA, ACAMS, CRISC, CCEP, or equivalent) are highly valued.
- Experience in the real estate and community management industry is required.
