Job Description

As Manager Enterprise Effectiveness, you will deliver sustainable improvements in business performance in support of the strategies set out by the business heads. This will be achieved through the design and delivery of strategic programmes and tactical projects, and by the review of business proposals with a focus on profit improvement and efficiency. In conjunction with the business, initiate, design and deliver a prioritised short, medium and long-term business improvement strategy for specific business areas (portfolios) across the Emirates Group.

The job holder will focus on specific business unit accounts and lead highly qualified professional teams as well as, at times, multi-disciplinary cross-functional company-wide teams. They will also have the responsibility to continually develop a range of value-added services, ensuring the capability of the ORE team is increased to enable the business heads to better support the Emirates Group objectives, through our service lines e.g., process improvement or organisation design. The job holder is expected to lead a service line, responsible for developing IP, training, and supporting projects within this domain.

In this role, you will:

  • Enable significant business improvement through strategic conversations with Group business leaders. Influence at senior leadership levels to ensure that departments buy-in to the strategies and amend current practices, processes, or policies to achieve the identified improvements and deliver tangible results. Involve key internal cross-functional departments, external stakeholders, and support functions (Finance, HR, IT, etc.) in all plans and strategies to ensure effective implementation and ongoing management of the agreed activities.
  • Be accountable to senior management for the delivery of a Business Strategy and Work Programme for client departments ensuring sufficient focus on cross-functional processes. Evaluate, establish, agree, and monitor business performance using a KPI framework for the business ensuring KPIs are improved periodically with rolling targets. Provide requisite leadership for the team around newer approaches to business and focus on generating incremental revenue, profits, or cost savings.
  • Closely partner with the business support departments and internal OR&E teams to raise service level and quality of support services provided. Take complete ownership for delivery of the work programme from OR&E and ensure that the projects address their primary goals, are delivered within agreed cost, timescales, and to customer satisfaction. Review business cases for all key investments to ensure that return on investment is being realised.
  • Take responsibility for the ongoing development of OR&E staff and business unit capability through contribution to ORE's and Service Line IP and the creation of project teams. Manage external contacts with professional bodies, industry or trade associations, consulting firms, or academic institutions through direct contact, surveys, or participation at international forums to complete appropriate research and benchmarking that will establish and bring back new process or management practices to Group businesses with a specific focus on process improvement or innovation.
  • As a core member of the ORE leadership team, support the advancement of the department and contribute to the motivation and development of all OR&E staff to ensure the delivery of the ORE vision, mission, and values.
  • Be accountable for the delivery, leadership, and management of direct reports and team through development plans, training, and appropriate mentoring, as well as coaching and motivation. Conduct timely annual and interim performance reviews and set SMART objectives to cultivate a culture of high performance. Plan, develop, and mentor EEMs and EESs to equip them with skills essential to undertake relevant process review studies and business reviews in order to maintain consistency of approach and demonstrate use of appropriate analytical, benchmarking, and other decision-making tools and techniques to support their recommendations and ascertain recommendations get communicated in an acceptable and constructive manner to Business unit managers.
  • Facilitate and support innovative thinking across the group through research, running workshops, jointly managing the innovation channels, and continually looking for new ways to challenge thinking.

Qualifications

To be considered for this role, you must meet the below requirements:

  • 10+ years experience in business consultancy in operational and support areas in a senior consulting role within a management consulting firm or an internal consulting unit in a major industrial or commercial organisation.
  • Degree in Business Management, Engineering, or MBA is preferred.
  • Specific experience in process improvement techniques such as supply chain management, Lean, Six Sigma, etc. or specific experience in innovation techniques and a high level of understanding of leading-edge Information technology.
  • The job holder is a key enabler in creating organisational direction.
  • Sufficient organisational understanding and business ideas wherein difficult questions can be asked, unspoken agendas can be surfaced, and organisational problems can be anticipated.
  • A mindset that integrates rational ideals with political reality and must have expertise which can help understand why results are happening in the organisation, not just what is happening.
  • A personal communication style that enables him/her in many relationships, not just a few. Build relationships up, down, across, and outside the portfolio being managed as well as in the Consultancy, Travel, Transportation, Airline, and Hospitality Industries.
  • Clear communication skills, written and verbal.
  • Experience working in a multi-cultural expatriate environment.
  • Ability to be strategically focused in aligning business initiatives to corporate objectives.
  • A balance of assertiveness and persistence with patience and diplomacy.
  • Ability to manage and organise resources so that they are aligned to enable a quick turnaround of projects.
  • High level (mastery) of process improvement techniques and/or high level (mastery) of innovation techniques and leading-edge information technology.
