Job description
Roles and responsibilities
  1. Manage and Lead a multi-disciplined maintenance team
  2. Ensure maintenance schedules are accurate and achievable
  3. Develop OEM contracts as directed by Client and maintenance requirements
  4. Author the maintenance section in the weekly and monthly reports
  5. Work with the CMMS / Planning Engineer to ensure maintenance routines are accurate and justified
  6. Appraise and update preventative maintenance routines in CMMS as applicable
  7. Develop maintenance backlog reports
  8. Develop a priority system for maintenance repairs against time and criticality
  9. Develop a call out system for emergency breakdown support
  10. Ensure there is robust forward planning for common user services (CUS) in scaffolding, lifting and insulation, which allows for the completion of all maintenance to schedule
  11. Engage competent local contractors to carry out all CUS work
  12. Direct the team to support shutdown and turnaround planning and resourcing
  13. Be aware of the priority of predictive maintenance requirements
  14. Ensure the team maintains critical materials holdings with minimum and maximum stock identified
  15. Ensure engineers audit the spares holdings advised by the EPC Contractor for accuracy and sufficiency
  16. Ensure self and team are fully conversant with the technical documentation available from EPC Contractor and OEMs
  17. Ensure self and team are fully conversant with all technical documentation required for maintenance and confirm it is available or resourced through OEMs or vendors
  18. Review competency of sub-contractors and engage local sub-contractors to support maintenance as required
  19. Engage competent local contractors to undertake non maintenance tasks, such as route clearance, chemical replenishment, closed drain / sceptic tank evacuation etc.
  20. Review MOCs for technical accuracy and delivery
  21. Provide technical input to modifications and work packs
  22. Develop a certification process to bring plant back on line after major maintenance or modifications ensuring integrity before handing over to operate
  23. Answer technical queries and guide sub-contract personnel on maintenance and best practices
  24. Monitor equipment performance and drive continuous improvement in plant and personnel
  25. Be conversant with Contract KPIs and support their delivery and attainment
  26. Ensure completion reports are submitted against all work and shutdowns / turnarounds
  27. Ensure good knowledge of the Contracted Services
  28. Commence and design a checklist system for routine maintenance tasks
  29. Participate in, or cooperate with; internal or external audits respectively
  30. Chair a weekly team meeting and maintain an action and minute log for discussion
  31. Attend weekly management meeting
  32. Compile or receive detailed written Handover prior to; and completion of leave and/or field breaks
  33. Carry out HSE and technical audits and inspections as directed
  34. Have a full awareness of the Company Code of Conduct and Business Ethics
  35. Conduct investigations into any HSE incidents or Technical occurrences

  1. Preventive and Predictive Maintenance:

    • Developing and implementing preventive maintenance programs to minimize equipment downtime.
    • Using predictive maintenance technologies (e.g., vibration analysis, thermography) to identify potential failures.
  2. Team Leadership and Management:

    • Supervising and training maintenance staff, ensuring they have the necessary skills and knowledge.
    • Scheduling and prioritizing tasks for the maintenance team to maximize productivity.
  3. Troubleshooting and Problem-Solving:

    • Diagnosing and resolving mechanical, electrical, and HVAC system issues.
    • Applying critical thinking to address complex maintenance challenges and emergencies.
  4. Equipment and Facility Management:

    • Overseeing the maintenance of plant equipment, machinery, and facilities.
    • Managing inventory of spare parts and tools to ensure quick turnaround during repairs.
  5. Safety and Compliance:

    • Enforcing safety standards and ensuring compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other regulatory requirements.
    • Conducting safety audits and risk assessments for equipment and workplace environments.
  6. Budgeting and Cost Control:

    • Managing maintenance budgets, including labor costs, parts, and external services.
    • Identifying cost-saving opportunities through efficient resource management and process improvements.
  7. Project Management:

    • Leading maintenance projects from initiation to completion, including upgrades and installations.
    • Managing timelines, resources, and coordinating with other departments.
  8. Communication:

    • Effectively communicating with other departments, management, and vendors.
    • Reporting on maintenance activities, including equipment downtime, repair costs, and efficiency metrics.
  9. Time Management:

    • Balancing scheduled maintenance activities with emergency repairs.
    • Ensuring timely completion of tasks while adhering to SLAs or maintenance schedules.
