Job Summary:
The Maintenance Engineer manages the maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of woodworking machinery and tools in the joinery factory, ensuring the smooth operation, safety, and longevity of all equipment. The ideal candidate will implement preventive maintenance schedules, diagnose technical issues, and coordinate repairs to minimize downtime while ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Machinery Maintenance & Troubleshooting:
- Perform routine and preventive maintenance on woodworking machinery, including CNC machines, edge banders, panel saws, beam saws, sanding machines, and spindle molders.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic issues to ensure uninterrupted production.
- Monitor machine performance and calibrate equipment for precision cutting, drilling, and finishing.
- Conduct emergency breakdown repairs to minimize production downtime.
- Perform routine mechanical/electrical checks throughout the facility and conduct necessary repairs.
Preventive & Predictive Maintenance Strategy:- Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules to extend machine lifespan.
- Perform regular inspections, lubrication, and servicing of machinery components.
- Keep records of machine performance, repairs, and maintenance history.
- Use predictive maintenance techniques to identify potential failures before they occur.
Health, Safety & Compliance:- Ensure all machinery and tools comply with factory safety regulations and HSE standards.
- Conduct risk assessments and ensure safety protocols are followed for machine operation, electrical work, and hazardous material handling.
- Train and guide operators on the safe handling and operation of machines.
- Ensure that dust extraction, ventilation, and fire safety systems are fully functional.
Spare Parts Management & Supplier Coordination:- Coordinate with vendors and suppliers to source spare parts, tools, and lubricants.
- Maintain an organized inventory of spare parts and essential maintenance materials.
- Recommend and assist in upgrading machinery to improve factory productivity.
- Assist in the procurement and installation of new machines and automation tools.
Operator Training & Technical Support:- Provide technical guidance to machine operators and carpenters on proper machine usage and troubleshooting.
- Conduct workshops and hands-on training on CNC programming, tool setting, and equipment calibration.
- Work closely with the production team to ensure machines are operating optimally for specific project needs.
Factory Expansion & Machinery Setup:- Assist in setting up new production lines, machine layouts, and factory infrastructure upgrades.
- Provide technical expertise for the installation and commissioning of new machinery.
- Ensure the smooth integration of advanced automation and woodworking technology.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Maintenance, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum 5-7 years of experience in machinery maintenance within a joinery, woodworking, or manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of CNC machines, edge banding machines, saws, sanding tools, and woodworking hand tools.
- Experience in electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with HSE regulations, factory safety protocols, and machine maintenance best practices.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, electrical schematics, and machine blueprints.
- Hands-on experience with preventive maintenance, fault diagnosis, and production line optimization.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills to minimize machine downtime.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in a GCC-based joinery factory, with knowledge of local suppliers and maintenance regulations.
- Expertise in automation and advanced woodworking technology.
- Experience in setting up new woodworking machinery and production lines.
- Knowledge of CNC programming, machine calibration, and troubleshooting advanced woodworking equipment.
