POSITION OVERVIEW

The Logistics Assistant will support logistics operations by coordinating material shipments, handling customs clearance, and ensuring seamless logistics processes. This role is integral to managing increased workloads, improving operational efficiency, and maintaining high service standards, particularly during peak periods and staff absences.


KEY RESPONIBILITIES

Logistics Coordination:

  • Assist in planning and scheduling material shipments to meet operational requirements.
  • Support the coordination of local and international shipments, ensuring compliance with customs regulations.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation for all shipping and logistics activities.


Operational Support:

  • Provide backup support to ensure continuous logistics operations during staff absences.
  • Work collaboratively with the Logistics Officer to prioritize tasks and manage workloads.
  • Address and resolve shipment-related issues promptly.


Compliance and Reporting:

  • Ensure all customs clearance processes are followed for local and international shipments.
  • Monitor shipments and provide regular status updates to relevant stakeholders.
  • Assist in generating and analysing logistics reports to identify areas for improvement.

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS


  • Certificate or Diploma in Logistics, Supply Chain, or a related field (preferred) or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in logistics or supply chain operations.
  • Familiarity with customs clearance processes for local and international shipments preferably with work experience within JAFZA.
  • Basic understanding of logistics software and systems (e.g., ERP systems).
  • Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in documentation.
  • Effective communication skills for internal and external coordination.
  • Problem-solving mindset with the ability to adapt to changing priorities.
