Light & Heavy Driver

Job Responsibilities

1. Transport finished goods and raw materials over land to and from manufacturing plants or retail and distribution centers
2. Inspect vehicles for mechanical items and safety issues and perform preventative maintenance
3. Plan routes and meet delivery schedules
4. Document and log work/rest periods and kilometers spent driving and retain fuel/toll receipts
5. Ensure the car seats are clean and comfortable for all riders
6. Listen to traffic and weather reports to stay up-to-date on road conditions
7. Answer clients’ questions about the area and local places of interest
8. Adjust the route to avoid heavy traffic or road constructions, as needed
9. Comply with truck driving rules and regulations (size, weight, route designations, parking and break periods) as well as with company policies and procedures
10. Maneuver trucks into loading or unloading positions
