Roles and Responsibilities
We are currently looking for dynamic and self-motivated Recreation professionals who want to move their careers forward.
As a Lifeguard, you are responsible for monitoring activities in the swimming area to prevent accidents and provide assistance to swimmers. Your role will include key responsibilities such as:
- Cautioning swimmers regarding unsafe areas
- Rescuing swimmers in danger of drowning and administering first aid
- Maintaining order in swimming areas
- Determining the chlorine content and pH value of water, using a water testing kit
- Conducting or officiating swimming meets and giving swimming instructions
- Ensuring the swimming pool is clean
- Ensuring the sun loungers are clean, in the correct position, and in working order
- Regularly checking the temperature of the pool to ensure it is at the set standard
- Ensuring the pool deck is clean and free of any debris during operation
- Ensuring that the umbrellas are fixed properly to their units
- Ensuring that when the umbrellas are not in use, they are tied down for safety precautions
- Providing emergency care and treatment as required until the arrival of emergency medical services
- Having full knowledge of club’s facilities, timings, promotions, and prices
Skills
Education, Qualifications & Experiences
You should ideally be a professional swimmer and a trained and qualified lifeguard with a diploma or university degree and some previous work experience, preferably within the hotel industry. Being physically fit and able to work long hours in an outdoor environment is essential. A good command of English and strong interpersonal abilities are advantageous.
Knowledge & Competencies
The ideal candidate will be customer-driven with good guest service skills and the ability to handle complaints. You should be a positive, smiley individual with a sportive, outgoing, and approachable character. You will work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment and be a great team player who thrives in working with a multi-cultural team and guests alike, while possessing the following additional competencies:

Monitoring and Surveillance:
- Constantly monitor swimmers and water activities to ensure everyone is safe.
- Keep an eye out for signs of distress, unsafe behavior, or potential hazards.
- Maintain a vigilant watch over designated areas, using lifeguard towers or patrols to ensure the entire area is covered.
Rescue Operations:
- Respond swiftly to emergencies such as drownings, near-drownings, or other water-related accidents.
- Perform rescues using appropriate techniques and equipment (e.g., rescue tubes, ropes, or boats).
- Administer CPR, first aid, or basic life support (BLS) when necessary, until medical professionals arrive.
Enforcing Safety Rules and Regulations:
- Enforce pool or beach rules and regulations to maintain a safe environment for all swimmers.
- Educate swimmers on safety practices, such as proper diving techniques and avoiding risky behaviors.
- Monitor the behavior of swimmers, ensuring that rules such as no running or diving in shallow water are followed.
First Aid and Emergency Response:
- Be prepared to handle minor injuries, such as cuts or sunburns, by administering first aid as necessary.
- Remain calm and act swiftly in emergencies, following the appropriate emergency response procedures.
- Record and report any incidents or injuries that occur during shifts.
Preventive Measures:
- Conduct regular safety checks of the pool or other water environments, including inspecting equipment and ensuring water quality.
- Educate the public about water safety, promoting awareness through signs and announcements.
- Participate in safety drills and continuous training to stay prepared for emergency situations.
Customer Service and Communication:
- Communicate with swimmers to provide assistance, answer questions, and give directions.
- Provide clear instructions and calm guidance during emergencies, keeping swimmers informed about what they need to do.
- Interact with guests in a friendly, approachable manner, making them feel at ease while ensuring their safety.
