Librarian

Librarian with Accommodation - Abu Dhabi, UAE

Preference for Indians - No English Requirement

We are looking for an experienced Librarian to join our team in Abu Dhabi, UAE. This position requires a candidate who is passionate about literature and knowledge and has prior experience in the field. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the library’s cataloguing system, as well as excellent organizational skills.

The successful applicant will be responsible for maintaining the library's collections, processing new materials, and assisting patrons with locating resources. Additionally, they will be expected to monitor library usage and make recommendations on how to optimize library services.

This position also comes with accommodation provided by the company. Therefore, preference will be given to candidates who do not require a visa to work in the UAE or are already residing in Abu Dhabi (although other nationalities may apply). Fluency in English is not necessary for this role.

Primary Responsibilities:

1. Maintain library collections by organizing and shelving books according to their categories.
2. Process new materials including checking for accuracy of information and entering them into the library catalogue system.
3. Assist patrons in locating resources by providing search assistance both in-person and online.
4. Monitor library usage and recommend ways to optimize services or improve user experience.
5. Respond to inquiries from patrons regarding location of materials or other information about resources.

Required Qualifications:

1. Proven experience working as a librarian or in a similar role.
2. Excellent organizational skills with a keen eye for detail.
3. Proficiency using computers and cloud-based software applications such as Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat Professional.
4. Knowledge of different classification systems such as Dewey Decimal System or Library of Congress Classification System.
