Job description

As a Legal Officer at Alpago Group, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring that our real estate development and contracting operations comply with local laws and regulations. You will provide legal guidance and support in various aspects of our business, including contract management, regulatory compliance, and risk mitigation, with a focus on the legal landscape in the UAE.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Contract Management:
    Draft, review, and negotiate various contracts and agreements, with an emphasis on UAE construction contracts, vendor agreements, lease agreements, and subcontractor agreements.
    Ensure that contracts are in compliance with UAE laws and regulations.
    Provide legal counsel during contract disputes and terminations, in line with local legal requirements.
  2. UAE Legal Compliance:
    Stay updated on the local, federal, and regional laws and regulations affecting the real estate and construction industry in the UAE.
    Advise the company on UAE-specific compliance issues, including zoning and land use regulations, environmental regulations, and construction safety standards.
    Identify legal risks specific to the UAE market and provide proactive solutions to minimize potential liabilities.
    Develop and implement UAE-specific risk management strategies to protect the company's interests.
  3. Litigation Support:
    Collaborate with local law firms when necessary and represent the company in legal proceedings in UAE courts.
    Assist in the management of litigation, arbitration, and dispute resolution processes, following UAE legal procedures.
  4. Legal Research:
    Conduct legal research on various issues related to UAE real estate, construction, and contractual matters.
    Stay informed about legal developments and precedents in the UAE and provide regular updates to the company.
  5. Corporate Governance:
    Assist in matters related to corporate governance in accordance with UAE laws, including compliance with local corporate regulations, board meetings, and maintaining corporate records.

Qualifications

  1. Law degree from an accredited law school and active membership in a relevant bar association.
  2. 5 years of relevant experience in real estate and construction law in the UAE.
  3. In-depth knowledge of UAE laws and regulations related to real estate development, construction, and contracting.
  4. Strong negotiation and communication skills.
  5. Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  6. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  7. Strong organizational and time management skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Previous experience working in a real estate development and contracting company in the UAE.
  2. Familiarity with real estate finance and transactions specific to the UAE.
  3. Previous experience in litigation and dispute resolution in UAE courts.

Working Conditions:

  1. This role may require regular interaction with local governmental and regulatory authorities.
