As a Legal Counsel (Commercial/TMT), you will work closely with our Group Legal team in overseeing the commercial legal matters across the business. You will be responsible for drafting, reviewing and negotiating a variety of commercial contracts under the direction of our Associate Legal Director and Group General Counsel and providing sound advice while handling complex commercial legal matters.
In this role, you will:
Oversee commercial and TMT-related legal matters;
Draft and amend commercial contracts and any other commercial agreements;
Provide advice on existing and new commercial agreements;
Prepare research notes and other legal documents;
Provide commercial legal support to the business and be a point of contact for commercial legal advice in the UAE and the wider group;
Support in creating processes and systems in place with respect to commercial legal matters;
Stay up-to-date with the legislative changes.
Bachelor’s degree in Law or equivalent certification in England, Wales, Australia or South Africa (or equivalent commonwealth country) and training at an International law firm in one or more of those jurisdictions.
Minimum 3-5 years of post qualification experience in an international law firm or multinational organisation
Experience working as a commercial/TMT lawyer (data privacy, technology, strategic sourcing and IT and IP advisory matters).
Proven background on commercial / TMT law
Proficient with Microsoft Office, specifically Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Strong oral and written communication skills
Must be able to effectively multi-task, manage time sensitive documents and have exceptional organisational skills in a fast-paced environment
Must be able to function effectively in a busy, team oriented environment
Excellent academics, drafting skills and the ability to grasp and navigate complex legal matters
Well organised and capable of managing multiple matters efficiently and prioritising appropriately
Flexibility and willingness to work in other practice areas, corporate law etc.
