Legal Affairs Manager

Qualifications & Education:

• At least 7 years banking sector experience.
• Experience of advising on diverse legal issues.
• Experience of mediation and litigation.
• Professional legal qualification equivalent to Bachelor's degree.
• Knowledge:
• Extensive knowledge of banking sector legal theory and practice.
• Understanding of UAE & DIFC legal procedures.

Generic Accountabilities:

• Corporate Governance and Compliance: Work fully within risk policies and procedures and compliance regulations.

Specific Accountabilities:

• Litigation Advice: Advise on deceased claims, internal regulations, labor disputes, company liquidation, & internal legal taxation issues.
• Initiate Legal Proceedings: Arrange and cooperate with law firms to initiate legal proceedings to recover customer liabilities.
• Mediation and Negotiation: Deploy mediation and negotiation as an alternative to litigation.
• Advice to Head Office Legal Affairs: Provide advice to counsel and ensure counsel is fully briefed.
• Reports: Report on the status of cases and communicate these to head office legal affairs and to divisions who need to be informed.
• Contract Development: Drive the contract development from drafting to completion of the negotiation process.
• Legal Advice and Opinion: Draft, analyze, and respond to RFPs, RFQs, RFIs, or customer terms & conditions as required.
• Advice: Advise on contract templates, contract policy, legal risk and liability, and maintain the bank's position.
• Contract Negotiation: Ensure quality advice on optimal contract terms protecting the bank's commercial interests and legal rights.
• Contracts & Agreements: Approve local contracts and agreements and ensure the bank's interests are protected.
