Lead Piping Engineer

JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Objective:

The safe and effective delivery of a portfolio of Brownfield Safety Critical Projects on multiple offshore platforms; including large production complexes (multiple platforms bridge linked) and remote Wellhead Towers, located offshore within the UAE under an EPCM contracting model.

Effective overall delivery of execution delivery on an assigned asset, which could be a production Complex or a number of Wellhead Towers. This encompasses both Construction and Commissioning activities as well as the movement of accommodation barges, utilisation of workboats, and receipt of materials etc.

Provide certainty and confidence to the Client and Wood Project Sponsor, that the contract is being delivered safely with a strong focus on optimization, cost control, risk management, schedule adherence and stakeholder management.

RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Continuous promotion of, and adherence to, the discipline specific procedures and providing feedback for continuous improvement
2. Support the development and delivery of the technical assurance framework
3. Monitor compliance with competence standards
4. Participate in incident investigations as required
5. Set performance expectations for direct reports
6. Actively maintaining own competence and continuous development
7. Provide discipline support to the business
8. Ensuring learning opportunities are captured and realized
9. Knowledge of relevant regulatory framework and legislation
10. Proficient in scope definition
11. Be part of PMT client team overseeing EPC contractors
12. Oversee Piping Engineering work being carried out by EPC contractors for major greenfield and brownfield projects as part of the Clients PMT
13. Promote effective communication and challenge within the EPC Contractors Engineering team in order to foster the production of safe, cost effective, fit for purpose and constructible Piping designs
14. Provide technical leadership and decision making for Piping engineering work carried out by the EPC contractors
15. Participate in all project safety and design reviews as necessary
16. Provide technical assistance, direction, and support during the construction and installation activities
17. Liaise and report to the Client's Senior Management on Piping Engineering Progress and Issues
18. Trouble-shooting the Piping design, identifying and resolving issues with engineering and/or fabricator by raising and resolution of Site/Technical Queries
19. Attend daily/weekly engineering progress meetings and generate status reports as required
20. Management of Change process including review of proposals
21. Assist construction personnel with general technical queries and details
22. Collaborate with construction management to eliminate any hazards associated with the work that may adversely affect the environment or the safety or health of employees
23. Provide resolution for technical Piping engineering problems, coordinates application of solutions
24. Ensure that all work is completed without compromise to quality and is delivered according to the project schedule
25. Excellent knowledge of the fundamental requirements of the piping discipline, and the basic requirements of other disciplines
26. Excellent knowledge of applicable local and international standards and statutory and regulatory requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

1. Must have ADNOC offshore brownfield project experience
2. Experience of Design and Installation to ADNOC and International Standards for offshore platforms
3. Experience of testing requirements and the associated challenges faced on offshore platforms
4. Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent from an accredited university
5. Must have at least five (5) years of experience in similar position in mega Oil & Gas or Petrochemical projects, managing a team of Specialists, Senior Engineers and Engineers.
6. Knowledge of engineering computer programs and general business software
7. Experience of working in a multi-project/multi-disciplined environment and throughout all engineering and design phases of projects
8. Previous experience of working in the Middle East would be an advantage
