Within Wood Abu Dhabi, we are actively expanding our project delivery portfolio to include Engineering Procurement and Construction Management (EPCM) Contracts.
As part of this growth, we are looking for personnel to join our team, either from internal Wood employees or the external market. The type of personnel we are looking for is broad ranging including:
- Ambitious people that want to grow their career within this exciting contract execution model, where they will gain experience across the full project lifecycle from Detailed Engineering, through Procurement & Fabrication and into the Offshore Execution, covering Construction, Commissioning, Start-up and Handover to Operations.
- Experienced personnel with a background in PMC, EPC or EPCM projects, that can take on senior positions within the organisation and use their experience to steer the team to deliver outstanding performance across a portfolio of projects for Major Operators.
Projects within the EPCM model are wide and varied covering both onshore and offshore Brownfield Assets; typical examples include:
- Onshore Pipeline Controls System Upgrades
- Offshore Asset enhancement projects covering multiple system and equipment on large platforms, Wellhead Towers and Islands.

Job Objective
The safe and effective delivery of a portfolio of Brownfield Safety Critical Projects on multiple offshore platforms; including large production complexes (multiple platforms bridge linked) and remote Wellhead Towers, located offshore within the UAE under an EPCM contracting model. Typical projects include Fire & Gas System Upgrades, Power Upgrades, Control System Upgrades, Flare System Upgrades and Platform Structural Modifications.
Effective overall delivery of execution delivery on an assigned asset, which could be a production Complex or a number of Wellhead Towers. This encompasses both Construction and Commissioning activities as well as the movement of accommodation barges, utilisation of workboats, and receipt of materials etc. Prioritizes work activities across all contractors and ensures management team are in place and organized to provide efficient execution of the work. Key interface with Client Operations team, attending Work Planning / Approval Sessions and communicating outcome to Contractor management team.
Ensures Construction Execution Planning and delivery of the portfolio of project scopes across their assigned asset is performed to drive efficient management of Construction Contractors workforce to deliver projects safely, to the required standards within budget and schedule. Provide certainty and confidence to the Client and Wood Project Sponsor, that the contract is being delivered safely with a strong focus on optimization, cost control, risk management, schedule adherence and stakeholder management.
Responsibilities
- Continuous promotion of, and adherence to, the discipline specific procedures and providing feedback for continuous improvement.
- Support the development and delivery of the technical assurance framework.
- Monitor compliance with competence standards.
- Participate in incident investigations as required.
- Set performance expectations for direct reports.
- Actively maintaining own competence and continuous development.
- Provide discipline support to the business.
- Ensuring learning opportunities are captured and realized.
- Knowledge of relevant regulatory framework and legislation.
- Proficient in scope definition.
- Be part of PMT client team overseeing EPC contractors.
- Oversee Piping Engineering work being carried out by EPC contractors for major greenfield and brownfield projects as part of the Clients PMT.
- Promote effective communication and challenge within the EPC Contractors Engineering team in order to foster the production of safe, cost effective, fit for purpose and constructible Piping designs.
- Provide technical leadership and decision making for Piping engineering work carried out by the EPC contractors.
- To participate in all project safety and design reviews as necessary.
- To provide technical assistance, direction, and support during the construction and installation activities.
- To liaise and report to the Client's Senior Management on Piping Engineering Progress and Issues.
- Trouble-shooting the Piping design, identifying and resolving issues with engineering and / or fabricator by raising and resolution of Site / Technical Queries.
- To attend daily / weekly engineering progress meetings and generate status reports as required.
- Management of Change process including review of proposals.
- Assist construction personnel with general technical queries and details.
- Collaborates with construction management to eliminate any hazards associated with the work that may adversely affect the environment or the safety or health of employees.
- Provides resolution for technical Piping engineering problems, coordinates application of solutions.
- To ensure that all work is completed without compromise to quality and is delivered according to the project schedule.
- Excellent knowledge of the fundamental requirements of the piping discipline, and the basic requirements of other disciplines.
- Excellent knowledge of applicable local and international standards and statutory and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
- ADNOC offshore brownfield project experience.
- Experience of Design and Installation to ADNOC and International Standards for offshore platforms.
- Experience of testing requirements and the associated challenges faced on offshore platforms.
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent from an accredited university with a minimum of fifteen (15+) years of relevant experience in the Offshore/Onshore Oil & Gas industry, including minimum (5) years (preferred) in GCC region.
- Must have at least five (5) years of experience in similar position in a mega Oil & Gas or Petrochemical projects, managing team of Specialists, Senior Engineers and Engineers.
- Knowledge of engineering computer programs and general business software.
- Experience of working in a multi-project / multi-disciplined environment and throughout all engineering and design phases of projects.
- Previous experience of working in the Middle East would be an advantage.
