Lead Mechanical Engineer - Static & Rotating

Job Description

Wood is currently looking for a Lead Mechanical Engineer (Package Engineer - Static & Rotating) to join our team in Sharjah, UAE.

Responsibilities

1. Lead the specification, design, and procurement of static and rotating equipment packages (e.g., compressors, pumps, valves, heat exchangers, flare packages, KODs, Drain pots).
2. Ensure compliance with project requirements, industry standards (e.g., API, ASME), and client specifications.
3. Develop and review package specifications, data sheets, and technical bid evaluations.
4. Select and design equipment to meet project requirements and optimize performance.
5. Ensure equipment compatibility with existing infrastructure and systems.
6. Collaborate with vendors to resolve technical issues.
7. Coordinate with the procurement team to ensure timely and cost-effective package delivery.
8. Expedite vendor documentation, drawings, and delivery schedules.
9. Ensure vendor compliance with project requirements and quality standards.
10. Ensure seamless integration of equipment packages with overall project design.
11. Coordinate with other disciplines (e.g., piping, electrical, instrumentation) to ensure compatibility.
12. Manage interfaces with vendors, contractors, and stakeholders.
13. Ensure equipment design and selection meet safety and quality standards.
14. Participate in HAZOP and other safety reviews.
15. Implement quality control procedures for package engineering.

Qualifications

1. Degree in Mechanical Engineering (B.Sc./B.Eng./M.Sc.).
2. Membership of a recognized professional institute preferred.
3. Minimum of 15 years' experience in the oil and gas industry.
4. Minimum of 15 years proven capability in an engineering design company.
5. Expertise in static and rotating equipment, package specification, and procurement.
6. Experience of working with multi-national and multi-cultural project teams is strongly preferred.
7. Previous experience of working in the Middle East would be an advantage.
