Job Description

Within Wood Abu Dhabi, we are actively expanding our project delivery portfolio to include Engineering Procurement and Construction Management (EPCM) Contracts. As part of this growth, we are looking for personnel to join our team, either from internal Wood employees or the external market.

The type of personnel we are looking for is broad ranging including:

  • Ambitious people that want to grow their career within this exciting contract execution model, where they will gain experience across the full project lifecycle from Detailed Engineering, through Procurement & Fabrication and into the Offshore Execution, covering Construction, Commissioning, Start-up and Handover to Operations.
  • Experienced personnel with a background in PMC, EPC or EPCM projects, that can take on senior positions within the organisation and use their experience to steer the team to deliver outstanding performance across a portfolio of projects for Major Operators.

Job Objective

The safe and effective delivery of a portfolio of Brownfield Safety Critical Projects on multiple offshore platforms; including large production complexes (multiple platforms bridge linked) and remote Wellhead Towers, located offshore within the UAE under an EPCM contracting model. Typical projects include Fire & Gas System Upgrades, Power Upgrades, Control System Upgrades, Flare System Upgrades and Platform Structural Modifications.

Responsibilities

  • To have single-point responsibility for all Instrument and Controls System design and engineering deliverables and ensure that they conform to all applicable engineering codes and standards as well as the Client's policies and procedures.
  • Definition of plant overall controls architecture.
  • Coordination of I&C team and reporting to Project or Engineering Manager on project related matters.
  • Supporting the Planning, scheduling and execution of discipline activities and deliverables, including manhour estimating and schedule preparation to support bid / tendering as required.
  • Ownership of I&C schedule and planning.
  • Manage discipline work to the required schedule and manpower allocation, including requesting personnel as identified by the plan, and day-to-day supervision of discipline personnel on the project.
  • Manage and report progress of all I&C engineering and design budgets in line with contract requirements including weekly and cumulative productivity.
  • To identify any areas of concern with respect to progress and/or quality and recommend corrective actions as required.
  • To attend weekly internal and external progress meetings and generate status reports for the Engineering/Project Manager.
  • To ensure all team members are competency assessed and maintain the competency of the team in line with company and Client requirements.
  • Define minimum acceptance criteria and undertake pre-qualification of third parties.
  • Liaise and engage with Licensors, Equipment Vendors and OEM's as required to conclude the project deliverables in accordance with the project scope and provide third party budget costs for stage gate estimates as required.
  • Define scope of work for 3rd Party sub contracts as required.
  • Preparation of Tender Bid Evaluations and assessment of bids.
  • Review of Vendor Documents on Detailed Engineering Projects.
  • Provide input to EPC scope of work and EPC Tender Package for EXECUTE stage.
  • To co-ordinate with other disciplines during all stages of design development, construction, pre-commissioning, and start up to ensure there is no conflict within the overall engineering design.
  • To provide technical support to site in terms of material inspection, Factory Acceptance Testing, etc.
  • Ensure compliance with management of change processes both technical and financial.
  • To provide direction and guidance on technical queries relating to I&C engineering and raise appropriate EQ's/deviations.
  • To participate in all project safety and design reviews as necessary.
  • To ensure that all work is completed without compromise to quality and is delivered according to the project schedule.
  • To liaise with the Client's Engineering, Operations and Maintenance staff as required to ensure a consistent approach to project completion whilst ensuring that the project is concluded within the boundary of the technical scope.
  • Take ownership for Risk Identification, Assessment, Mitigation, Monitoring and Close Out for your respective discipline.
  • To promote safe behavior at all times.
  • To provide sound technical advice and solutions to a diversity of technical problems within the discipline.
  • Promote and encourage smarter ways of working and champion continuous improvement within your department.
  • Ensure all lessons learnt are captured and shared.

Qualifications

  • ADNOC offshore brownfield project experience.
  • Experience of Fire & Gas Detection and Protection, plus Fire Suppressant System.
  • Experience of Design and Installation to SIL 3 Standards/Requirements.
  • Experience of working with leading OEMS for Design/Interface/Interconnections, plus Factory Acceptance/Site Acceptance Testing.
  • Experience in replacing obsolete F&G systems in a live operating environment.
  • Experience of Package Management.
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline (Instrumentation or Electronics) from an accredited university with a minimum of fifteen (15+) years of relevant experience in the Offshore/Onshore Oil & Gas industry, including minimum (5) years (preferred) in GCC region.
  • Must have at least five (5) years of experience in similar position in a mega Oil & Gas or Petrochemical projects, managing team of Specialists, Senior Engineers and Engineers.
  • Experience FEED, Detail design and EPC projects.
  • Fully coherent in all international codes and standards.
  • Excellent command of both spoken and written English is required.
  • Assurance of tender and supply for all I&C equipment.
  • Thorough knowledge of DCS, ESD, F&G and SCADA systems generally incorporated in major Brownfield oil/gas offshore projects.
  • Participation with contribution during P&IDs, HAZOP, and SIL reviews workshop Review and where required approval of work by others.
  • Previous experience of working in the Middle East would be an advantage.
