Job Description

Job Title: Lead Fleet Engineer Cabin

Synopsis

The Lead Fleet Engineer Cabin reports to the Technical Fleet Manager Boeing and is responsible for the compliance on all CAR AIR OPS and CAR M requirements in order to ensure the continuing airworthiness and to maintain the aircraft safety standard.

Accountabilities:

  1. Review incorporation and follow up on all Cabin systems and components related Airworthiness Directives and mandatory Service Bulletins on Fleet to ensure that all mandatory modifications are properly assessed, decided, and all the related documents are issued and complied in a timely manner to maintain aircraft airworthiness and safety standards.
  2. Evaluation of reliability data and alert notification to perform root cause analysis to develop or identify corrective actions. Contact OEM as required to respond to the reliability department with the specified timelines. Prioritize and implement a plan with internal and external stakeholders to improve fleet reliability and on-time performance.
  3. The Lead Engineer shall design, compile, and issue Engineering Orders, Special Checks, and Additional Engineering Requirements based on approved maintenance data for the purpose of modification aircraft status assessment for reliability and safety issues and to ensure accomplishment of additional work to provide solutions to ongoing technical problems.
  4. Incorporation of company requested Cabin modifications. Additional modifications which are requested by the internal customers (e.g., Flight Operations, Guest Experience) shall be technically and commercially assessed and presented in a meaningful format for management decision and approval.
  5. Carry out any technical projects as directed by the Fleet Engineering management such as end of aircraft lease, new aircraft induction, cabin reconfig, aircraft parking and storage, etc.
  6. He/She ensures that all Non-Mandatory Modifications for the related fleet are properly assessed, decided, and timely incorporated. Significant reliability improvement, cost, and maintenance reduction are achieved ensuring return on investment. Evaluate and verify engineering order issues in order to provide correct, adequate, and approved maintenance data in line with the applicable regulations.
  7. The Lead Engineer Cabin works towards identification of any deterioration in the technical performance of Cabin and recommends an efficient and economic resolution in a timely manner in order to maintain aircraft at an optimum balance of safety, utilization, technical performance, and maintenance cost.
  8. He/She shall also recommend where maintenance programs and procedures should be amended to reduce maintenance and other costs by avoiding delays, technical incidents, unscheduled maintenance, AOGs, etc.
  9. The Lead Engineer shall be required to liaise and provide technical assistance to departments responsible for negotiating contracts for the repair/overhaul of components. He/she will also provide technical assistance to departments responsible for pursuing warranty claims and support programs with the manufacturers and vendors.
  10. He/She will be responsible to liaise with internal and external stakeholders to maintain and improve the Fleet airframe system/Cabin & IFE within the design specifications in order to optimize on-time performance and maintenance cost to meet management and customer satisfaction.
  11. Familiar with, enforces, and follows the procedures stipulated in the Safety & Quality Management Manual (SQMM) and becomes an active participant in the workplace safety program.
  12. Encourages colleagues and is actively involved in the promotion of a positive reporting culture by reporting any unsafe acts, unsafe conditions, or safety risks.

Education & Experience

  1. Tertiary qualifications that meet the eligibility requirements for membership as a chartered engineer (e.g., Bachelor degree in the field of Aeronautical or Mechanical Engineering).
  2. 5 years CAMO experience as Fleet Management Engineer / Technical Services engineer in the field of Technical Commercial Aviation or Airline Engineering is required.
  3. Training on Boeing fleet and preferably with B777 or B787 aircraft and experience in AMOS MIS will be added advantage.
