Description
The Lead Engineer oversees and supports managing engineering aspects of Ratawi Solar PV and TPIF projects, comprising 4 units of Solar PV with 1 GW capacity, 1 GIS Grid substation, and 4 overhead transmission lines. The Lead Engineer is responsible for ensuring that activities are performed and delivered according to Iraqi Minister of Electricity specifications, Company requirements, and best engineering standards.
The Lead Engineer acts as the deputy to the Project Engineering Manager, supporting the coordination and supervision of contractors' engineering design and owner's engineering teams. Responsibilities include managing engineering logistics, document control, technical support, subcontractor coordination, and ensuring adherence to project schedules, specifications, quality, budgets, and safety objectives.
The Lead Engineer promotes an integrated owner engineering team to supervise the EPC Contractor's engineering progress and quality of works until completion. Key responsibilities include:
- Ensuring the quality of engineering works together with the QA/QC Manager.
- Managing engineering activities to align with project planning.
- Developing detailed engineering schedules and task execution sequences.
- Supervising and providing guidance to Contractor engineering teams.
- Building necessary KPIs for engineering activities and monitoring progress.
- Ensuring compliance with safety protocols and regulations.
- Communicating safety updates and best practices to the engineering team.
Minimum Requirements:
The ideal candidate should have:
- A Master's degree in electrical engineering, with a focus on power systems or a related field.
- A minimum of 5 to 7 years of experience in renewable projects, power transmission, and substation projects.
- Specific experience in Solar PV, high-voltage overhead transmission line design (132 kV or above), and GIS substation projects.
- Proven experience in managing teams and strong knowledge of international standards (IEC, IEEE).
- An EPC background with experience in at least 1 completed project.
- IT proficiency, particularly in MS Word, MS Excel, PowerPoint, and Primavera.
- Fluency in English; Arabic and French are advantages.
