Job Description

The Position

To manage the hotel laundry operation effectively and efficiently ensuring excellent laundry/dry-cleaning services in accordance with Sofitel standards.

Key Roles & Responsibilities

1. Supervise and train staff in day-to-day laundry operations and prioritizing of daily tasks.
2. Ensure guest laundry, dry cleaning, and pressing is completed according to set standards.
3. Ensure all guest requests are promptly and professionally met; liaise with Resident Services Manager and Butler team in this respect.
4. Record guest and staff laundry lists accurately.
5. Fully comply with Opera system requirements, by posting bills accurately and on time.
6. Ensure that guest supplies are in stock.
7. Assist Laundry Manager in assessing staff attendance and performance.
8. Assist Laundry Manager in the processing of all departmental paperwork.
9. Assist Laundry Manager in taking proper inventories and quality checks.
10. Train the team in LQA standards.
11. Conduct daily briefings with staff.
12. Properly file all laundry reports.
13. Regularly check all laundry machinery ensuring all filters are cleaned regularly and press covers are in good condition; report any machine defects to Engineering.
14. Ensure staff are using laundry equipment properly and keeping them in good condition.
15. Assist and liaise with Housekeeping Manager regarding the laundering of sundry guest room items e.g. net curtains, cushion covers.
16. Liaise with Linen/Uniform Room Supervisor regarding the processing of linens and uniforms.
17. Keep strict control of items sent for laundering by staff members.
18. Comply with hotel’s health, safety, and hygiene policy.
19. Adhere to personal grooming and hygiene standards.
20. Fully understand the difference of guest levels (VIP).

Qualifications

PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES

1. Must be able to lead and manage a team and have previous experience of doing so.
2. Knowledge of Opera Property Management System would be desirable.
3. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office.

Qualifications

1. Post Secondary education.

Experience

Minimum 3 years laundry experience preferably in a luxury hotel environment with 1 year at a supervisory level.
