Responsible for phlebotomy (adult and pediatric) including collection of various laboratory samples as and when required.
Perform Biochemistry, Hematology, Clinical pathology, basic Microbiology, Serology, and specially requested tests on patient specimens as per laid down and approved laboratory standard operating procedures. Responsible for results validation and reconfirmation if required, including abnormal and critical results.
Duly notify the patient care unit or physician of any critical test results. Interact professionally with all department members, physicians’ staff, administration, and the Director of Clinical Laboratory and Pathology for daily laboratory practices.
Record and maintain laboratory and patient-related data entry, assisting in preparing lab statistics, daily/monthly quality controls, calibrations after due verification.
Perform and follow quality assurance programs for various laboratory sub-departments including internal and external quality assurance.
Use and maintain all laboratory equipment correctly, including daily checks, routine maintenance, and records for the various instruments in the laboratory.
Perform basic blood bank procedures including daily quality assurance and maintaining appropriate blood bank records.
Observe and follow laboratory safety protocols and precautions including infection control practices by using appropriate PPEs and approved procedures to help in the prevention or containment of the effects of adverse incidents.
Maintain the confidentiality of patient information and follow ethics and professional behavior while on assigned duties.
Attend and follow continuous medical education and training programs.
Follow appropriate international guidelines, DHA regulations, EIAC/ISO15189:2012 requirements & Joint Commission International norms while treating or managing patients as well as while discharging professional duties.
Minimum Requirements:
Associate Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology.
At least two (2) years of Medical Laboratory experience.
Currently licensed in country of origin and with DHA license to practice in Dubai, UAE.
Fluent in spoken & written English; Arabic language is desirable but not essential.
